NEWS: A rocket attack targeting the convoy of the Philippines Mayor Akmad Mitra Ampatuan early Sunday, Jan. 25, was caught on security camera.

Despite the rocket striking the vehicle and heavy gunfire erupting at the scene, local media reported that Ampatuan, who says this was the 4th attempt on his life, was not injured.

Two members of the Shariff Aguak mayor’s security detail were wounded in the attack, according to reports citing police.

Authorities said security forces launched a pursuit operation after the assailants fled in a minivan. Three suspected attackers were killed in the clash, and their vehicle was recovered.

Investigators are continuing to determine the identities of those involved and the motive behind the attack.
