@perulainen Thanks! did you finish the main part of the demo?
Yes ... Unfortunately for the demo, I think the most interesting stuff happens in the next part :|
Question time...
My original vision for Code of the Savage was to avoid modern waypoint markers and keep exploration more old school like Ultima 7.
But after some player feedback, I’m starting to rethink this a little.
The game already has a Journal that auto-updates and tracks active tasks. Completed entries fade out, while unfinished ones stay near the top.
There is also a map that can show the players location if they have a sextant.
So here’s the question:
Should incomplete journal entries have some kind of subtle map guidance?
Not exact pin point markers, but maybe a rough area/radius. For example, if the journal says "search the southern forest" the map could mark the general area with maybe a green tool tippable radius rather than the exact spot.
Would that be helpful, or would it take away too much of the old-school discovery?
Curious what people think.

I recently added some new NPC flavour barks where they greet and reply to each other (and to the player), They talk about the weather, and ask how each other are etc... I forgot to disable it when the NPC is in combat, and had an interesting exchange with a NPC guard I was testing combat settings with.
Guard: "DIE!!"
Guard: "You'll pay for that!"
Guard: "I'll kill you!!!"
...
Guard: "How goes the day, stranger?" (as he is hacking me to pieces...)
