What a fun & inspiring anniversary celebration on Thursday! Thank you to Esmeralda Barnett for speaking about her work at Elrod Elementary, and special gratitude to all donors, current & former HISD staff members, & other supporters who joined us for this uplifting event.

New Hope Housing Savoy provides affordable housing for very low-income homeless/at-risk families in Gulfton/Sharpstown. As most Savoy families have kids at 3 nearby #HISD schools, the Savoy site manager now offers COR's products to the complex's HISD families.
The John Mc Knitt Alexander Chapter of the NSDAR is an ongoing supporter of COR Houston, collecting funds & hosting regular packing parties. Last week the group assembled 229 individual hygiene packs for Houston ISD students. Thank you!

COR works hard to make connections at the HISD schools we serve. These relationships often include staff members who work together to identify students in need, like this great Berry Elementary team.
(All Berry students qualify for free/reduced price lunch.) Thank you, donors!
Last weekend a great group of UH Pre-Law Society students assembled 405 food packs for high-need HISD families: 100 easy meal packs, 45 pantry staple packs, 200 mini food packs (for community engagement events), & 60 teen food packs.
Thanks for your amazing work!

Each week, Three Brothers Bakery donates day-old-but-still-tasty breads & pastries to COR, & board member Keith Solomon delivers them to Braeburn Elementary. 99% of Braeburn students live in/near poverty, & families eagerly await the baked treats. Thank you, @3brothersbakery!
Last week a child arrived at Foster Elementary wearing sneakers that were falling apart. (All of Foster's 334 students live in/near poverty.) The shoes wouldn't survive the walk home that afternoon, so staff contacted COR - & we delivered new shoes & socks (& hygiene supplies).
We work closely with S. Post Oak Walmart to buy in bulk, ensuring that we keep our most-requested items in inventory. Here, Walmart employees Daniel & Angel help COR intern Edwin Marquez load boxes of shampoo & conditioner for delivery to needy HISD schools.

COR sometimes receives donations of gently used school supplies; we make sure they're in great shape before delivering them to needy #HISD schools. These Scouts sorted, tested, sharpened, & counted hundreds of crayons, pencils, markers, & colored pencils. Thank you! @girlscouts
We've been delivering binders, pencils, glue sticks, computer sleeves, & other items to schools in the Yates, Wisdom, Bellaire, & Sharpstown feeder patterns. Here teacher Curtis Gibson is picking up bags for delivery; donations at https://t.co/Nt4SWcmrTS help us serve more kids!
We're so grateful for the Merrill Lynch group that spent last Saturday morning packing hygiene kits for students in high-need Houston ISD schools. They also donated packages of wipes & underwear, & 4000+ sanitary pads.
If your group wants to help HISD kids, please contact us!
A recent generous grant from H-E-B will allow us to deliver 700 food packs to HISD schools. A typical pack includes tuna, pasta & sauce, rice, ravioli, vegetables, mac & cheese, oatmeal, & shelf-stable milk. Other packs include pantry staples & no-cook easy meals. Thanks, H-E-B!
Thank you, Willow Meadows Baptist Church, for donating dozens of hygiene kits for high-need #HISD kids. Each kit includes deodorant, shampoo, toothbrushes/paste, & soap; girls' kits include conditioner & feminine hygiene supplies. These are in great demand! @willowmeadowsbaptist
COR delivered 300+ college packs to HISD high schools this spring. Each basket includes bedding, towel, shower caddy, power strip, laundry pods, hygiene items, & more. We're so proud of these hard-working students!
(Note: we cover faces for privacy reasons.)
It's hard for kids to focus on learning if their clothes are dirty, or if they're sick, but some HISD families living in/near poverty lack adequate sanitizing supplies.
We delivered 5,000+ cleaning items during the 24-25 school year; your donations help us continue this work. β€οΈ
COR delivered 300+ college packs this spring, including 19 to EMERGE students at #HISD's Madison, South Early College, & HAIS high schools; we hope to give more next year. EMERGE helps high-achieving kids from low-income communities thrive at the nationβs best colleges. Congrats!
At a recent event, Dr. Nath invited guests to bring supplies for needy HISD students - & she then donated them to COR. Thank you all for the socks, hygiene items, underwear, & uniform clothing! (Dr. Nath, a pediatric neurologist, is a candidate for HISD Trustee District 7.)
HISD families living in/near poverty have been gratefully receiving essential support from a range of fine Houston organizations, but much of that aid has now vanished or is under threat. With your help, COR will keep delivering basic items to students at HISD's neediest schools.
What a generous grant for essential items for 50 high-need HISD schools! Each school's pack includes 16 pairs shoes & 40 pairs socks, + soap, shampoo, toothbrushes/paste, & other hygiene items. We'll begin distributing these in August. Thanks, KKG, for helping so many students!
