If you don't live in Israel or consume Israeli media, you don't know who Yair Golan is. He is a 61-year-old retired Major General in the Israel army and a former parliament MP. Spend a minute to read this story.

Yesterday, when IDF and the police were in complete chaos, Golan put on his old uniform, took his weapon, and drove into the war zone multiple times to rescue civilians under fire. He rescued two young adults hiding under a bush after 260 of their friends were murdered at an outdoor party. He answered a call from a journalist that his son was hiding under fire and simply said, "Give me his location, and I will bring him back home." An hour later, the son called his father from Golan's car.

Golan collected a small crew and went in and out of the war zone, rescuing dozens of people while exchanging fire with Hamas terrorists. He is 61, he could have stayed home, but he chose to risk his life for people he does not know.

Golan is one of the strongest voices from the Israeli left and was constantly attacked by the right wing in Israel. But when the time came, he was first fighting the barbaric attack. The same brain wiring that supports peace, is often the same wiring that drives people to do the right thing.

A true hero.

It went down about as well as you’d imagine.

Look, I know we all live in our own bubbles, but if you still don’t know that the concept of russian fraternity is a key propaganda narrative used extensively to justify imperial genocide - and that russia’s neighbours thoroughly reject it - then you really need to start listening to Georgians and others instead before attempting commentary.

Articles about the incident introduce the proudly independent country as a mere ‘former Soviet state’ then skip to the singer’s own explanation about why his comments were meant well.

So far, not a single article I can see takes the opportunity to explain the key context of the story to readers about why russian fraternity is such bullshit.

Time to read the room. The Killers’ concert venue is a good place to start.

El Gobierno de Juanma Moreno (PP) sube los precios de todos los servicios públicos escolares de Andalucía 2 meses después de que los alumnos se hayan matriculado.

El coste del servicio de comedor escolar sube un 4,2%, pasando de 4,78 a 4,98 euros al día, y las actividades escolares suben un 4,16%, pasando de 16,81 euros por cada actividad a 17,51 euros por mes y actividad.

Los precios públicos del aula matinal, el comedor escolar y las actividades extraescolares en Andalucía han aumentado un 8,7% en dos años.
