Kenya owes a lot to the Somali Community. Somalis have enlightened Other Kenyans on entrepreneurship from real estate, Forex, textile, retail etc. Yet Kenyan govโt subjects my people to illegal vetting when seeking IDs & Passports. If Somalis decided to pull their resources out of Kenya, it will collapse in a day.
Nobody told you the full truth about X Premium.
You were told: "Buy Premium, get the blue tick, start earning."
What they didn't tell you: the blue tick alone earns you NOTHING. It's just the entry ticket. The real requirements are brutal.
To even qualify for Ad Revenue Sharing, you need:
โ X Premium (paid)
โ 500+ verified followers
โ 5 million impressions in the last 3 months
5 MILLION. Most accounts never hit that in their lifetime.
And even if you DO hit 5M impressions?
X pays $8โ$12 per MILLION verified impressions.
So 5M impressions = roughly $40โ$60. Once. After months of grinding.
Here's the part that kills most Kenyan creators:
"Verified impressions" means views ONLY from other X Premium users.
Your 10,000 Kenyan followers on free accounts? They don't count toward your payout. At all.
So the math looks like this:
You pay ~$3/month for Premium.
Your Kenyan audience views your content.
X counts almost none of it.
You earn close to zero.
They win. You lose.
Who actually makes money on X?
Creators with large diaspora or Western audiences โ where Premium adoption is higher. Kenyan-only audiences on free accounts are essentially invisible to the payout system.
This doesn't mean X is useless. It means:
โ Use X to build your brand
โ Use X to land brand deals
โ Use X to drive traffic elsewhere
โ Don't buy Premium just because someone said you'll "earn from tweets.
The people telling you to buy Premium are often:
โ Affiliates earning from your signup
โ Creators whose audiences are already global
โ People who genuinely don't understand how the payout system works
Not necessarily bad people. But not your situation.
Save this thread. Share it with someone who's about to spend money they don't have chasing earnings that won't come.
The creator economy is real. But it rewards truth over hype.
Now you know. ๐
