With the International Token Web Conference coming up in just a few hours, including my presentation on "7 Miles from Sydney and a thousand miles from care: The Port Jackson and Manly Steamship Company Tokens", I thought I'd a) give it a plug #SaturdayNightCoinShow 1/n
You should definitely come to the International Token Web Conference - someone who may be known to the @CoinOfNote account will be presenting a lecture on the "The Port Jackson and Manly Steamship Company Tokens"

@LesCoinsUK Ah well, maybe it will sit there for ten years and then I'll find a book on all the varieties which will have a picture of mine and a three page explanation, who knows!
The newsletter is very late this fortnight, but I'm about to board a long flight home, so it will be even later. In the meantime, can you guess this tricky small coin?
Let us know, and don't forget to sign up for the newsletter to find out the answer! https://t.co/1KEEHgtHfy
@LesCoinsUK Yes there seem to be a few variants. Most of the ones on Numista are listed as copper with a few silver and one brass. Mine is definitely a yellow metal, brass or bronze
@LesCoinsUK Hey now that I've written up the post on the coin, and just working on the newsletter.... Do you have ANY information about the design on the coin? Numista, NGC, etc have nothing - except a couple of notes on specific variants, but nothing on the overall design?
Can you guess the Mystery Coin? #WhatIsIt? Tell us! It's a bronze coloured coin. "1" between two ... towers?, "Kobo" below.
Don't forget to subscribe to the fortnightly newsletter to find out the answer (& next #MysteryCoin first! https://t.co/1KEEHgtHfy

An interesting pieces in this week's E-Sylum about how ancient Roman lead pollution can be tied to coins: https://t.co/tFDCjivkwq - It is (or was) terrible for the Romans, but fascinating to see how things like this can be traced back.

Bismuth is one of my favourite metals. I wrote about it last year: https://t.co/04LiVV9VBR
If you enjoyed that & a little science, you may like this video by The Action Lab on the strange #magnetism of #Bismuth: https://t.co/W6oZvFA0CO He does a lot of great #science videos.
Who guessed this fortnight's #MysteryCoin? It was a 1988 #Ecuador 50 Centavos: https://t.co/ZFUhjFCWIg Learn about the country with a river coming down a mountain on their coat of arms! What is your favourite landscape on a coat of arms?
#Numismatics#SaturdayNightCoinShow
This is an ad & you could make one cheaper, but I do like the idea - imagine a penny set, each with a picture of something from that year. Have you ever done or seen anything similar?

@CacheCoins It is! They come in all shapes and values - I meant to add a photo of a few of them though I couldn't find a lot about the various values or prices though, which is why I didn't say a lot about it in the post (which meant it ended up being more about the ferries than the tokens!)
While you are guessing the Mystery Coin - don't forget to sign up to the Coin of Note newsletter - one email a fortnight, with info, news, coin pictures, me rambling - but not too long - what more could you want?
Signing up is easy: https://t.co/1KEEHgt9q0

I need to work on the next newsletter soon, but first, a reminder about this fortnight's #MysteryCoin - it is a small round silver-coloured coin with "50" in a striped square, CENTAVOS below & "50" in small braille dots below that. Where / when might it be from? #Numismatics
@TheRifleman11@Arrowheadbroken Thank you - I added a little bit to the bottom of my post on this coin with links to those references (I couldn't find the specific video but https://t.co/AY0vOhZuPC has a lot of resources for people in any case) - and a credit to you for them :) https://t.co/gsJ4O3itAw
