"foundational firearms exercise developed by Jeff Cooper in the 1970s to test a shooter's essential skills, including the turn, draw, target transition, and reloading under pressure.
Drill Setup
Targets: Three silhouette targets (IPSC or IDPA style) are placed in a line.
Spacing: Targets are spaced one yard (or about one meter) apart from each other.
Distance: The shooter stands 10 yards away from the targets.
Ammunition: A total of 12 rounds is required, typically loaded as 6 rounds in the pistol and 6 rounds in a spare magazine.
Execution Procedure
Start Position: The shooter stands at the 10-yard line with their back to the targets and hands in a "surrender" position (above shoulders).
The Signal: On the "beep" of a shot timer, the shooter pivots 180 degrees to face the targets.
First String: The shooter draws their pistol and fires two rounds at each of the three targets.
The Reload: After the first six shots, the shooter performs a mandatory reload (typically a slide-lock reload).
Second String: The shooter engages each of the three targets again with two rounds each"

And Rule Zero, Eyes and Ears. Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection.
