Today is the Winter Solstice – the shortest day of the year. Highgate Wood is calm and quiet, a perfect spot for a winter walk. From now on, the days will slowly start getting longer and lighter.

Wind gusts of over 37mph are forecast today (18 Dec) from around 1pm and as a result, for safety reasons, Highgate Wood will close at 1pm for the remainder of the day. If anything changes, we'll update here.

The toilets next to Pavillion Café will be closed for a few weeks for refurbishment from today (Mon 24 Nov). The accessible toilet will still be available and alternative toilets can be found next to the playground. Thanks for your patience while we carry out these improvements.

🚧 Gypsy Gate (Muswell Hill Rd) will close from Mon 24 Nov for up to 9 months to fix subsidence at a Keeper’s Lodge.
✅ Use New Gate (1 min away) or Archway Gate (3 mins walk).
🌳 No trees affected.
🔄 Gate & path reopen once work is complete
