@SueJonesSays@EmouseMichael@supersimple4u@metaburbia No it does not. People with different ancestries have different genes for skin color and different genes for many other things. Like how prone you are to sickle cell disease, nose shape, and intelligence.
@supersimple4u@SueJonesSays@metaburbia Differences in skin color genes do not explain differences in intelligence, and nobody believes that they do. Ancestry correlates with genes that differ across populations, and ancestry correlates with skin color.
@Rongwrong_@AyrshireBog The explanatory power is originally from the populations but you can use race as a very imperfect approximation to explain differences that are due to genetic differences. And these genetic differences exist even between "races" not just populations.
@Rongwrong_@AyrshireBog "Races" as in the social construct have significant genetic overlap with the actual populations that were evolving. The actual populations were the groups that underwent differential selection, but there is significant genetic overlap between the population and the race.

At 5:00 he is literally asked this.
Interviewer: "How do you determine the level of intelligence down to someones skin color?"
Cofnas: "Intelligence and skin color per se are not related, so there are population differences in the means and distributions of scores on intelligence tests."
This is the standard right-wing take but it gets Kurt Cobain wrong. Tedious tone policing Christian conservatives were the late 80s/early 90s equivalent of todays scolding woke moralists. Kurt Cobain would be anti-woke, he is psychologically rebellious not ideologically rebellious. David Bowie dressed in drag and flirted with fascism.
