Witness M is testifying behind closed doors at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry after Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga approved an application for an in-camera hearing due to serious safety concerns.
The witness will give evidence about being present during the 751kg cocaine bust in Aeroton, Johannesburg, and the tracking of the drug shipment.
The testimony is expected to include allegations involving politically exposed individuals, heads of state, organised crime syndicates, crime families and terrorist groups.
In an affidavit, Witness M said they had been placed under surveillance, followed by suspicious vehicles, and received anonymous intimidating phone calls.
Owing to the highly sensitive nature of the evidence and the security risks, the Commission ruled that the proceedings would be held in camera until the witness has completed testimony.

Commissioner Khumalo questions why IDAC took issue with the interview panel recommended by Dumisani Khumalo, arguing the crime intelligence boss followed the prescribed process and that the panel was approved by the relevant higher authority.
Commissioner Baloyi goes further, pointing to IDAC’s arrest warrant, which criticises Khumalo’s recommendations by asking why Feroz Khan was not included in it.

@FabrizioRomano It's actually quite crazy because Yamal said a similar thing last week before beating France yet again, when asked why he doesn't seem to be under any pressure.
A legal representative for Parliament's Impeachment Committee has argued that it is fulfilling a constitutional mandate by probing President Cyril Ramaphosa's Phala Phala farm theft matter.
Advocate William Mokhare was presenting arguments at the Western Cape High Court yesterday, where Ramaphosa has applied for an urgent interdict.
The President is seeking to halt the Impeachment Committee hearings pending his separate legal challenge against the Section 89 report, which recommended the probe.
