Fantastic day out with @HarrogateNats at Malham. Highlights included Alpine bartsia (Bartsia alpina) and some impressive stands of Baneberry (Actaea spicata) and Downy Currant (Ribes spicatum) on limestone pavement where grazing has been reduced by switch from sheep to cattle

Fun to be out with @HarrogateNats in Upper Wharfedale today; Mountain Avens Dryas octopetala just over but perfect timing for Horseshoe Vetch Hippocrepis comosa at one of its most northerly British sites and the teeny-tiny Dwarf Milkwort Polygala amarella.

Our vols cutting & removing vegetation from a road verge in Farnham, nr Knaresborough. This is one of the the best magnesian limestone grassland verges in the Harrogate district.

This work reduces nutrients & improves conditions for the rare limestone flora.🌺

Staveley is enjoying one of it's best ever year's for Bittern sightings, frequently seen in reeds or in-flight round the Carrs Hide on the east lagoon, another big attraction in recent years is Willow Emerald, first of the year, seen today.

Commercial "wildflower" mixes erode genetic diversity and homogenise the landscape. They are also unnecessary. The car park verge at @NosterfieldLNR was established from locally-collected seed and provides an attractive example of lowland meadow priority habitat.
