@QuinnSTLCards A 1.12 ERA could be touchable by today’s pitchers, but 511 wins is just beyond the threshold of possibility without major changes to the game.
@QuinnSTLCards Modern-era in baseball typically just refers to post deadball (1920). The game changed a lot in the late 1910s and 1920s and baseball from before then looks very different. 1968 baseball looks a lot closer to modern day than it does to 1910 (Cy Young’s last season)
@MLBMILBNFLNCAA@LouisvilleBats I bought my ticket to a minor league game at the box office a couple weeks ago to save on the “convenience fee” and was dismayed when they texted me a link to a digital ticket.
@paxunfiltered@Jandystl I was also there. Great game. I looked back at my scorecard from this game the other day and almost couldn’t believe the only player left on the cards from this team is Noot.
@buckeyebrowning@BBGreatMoments The idea was that Lester had trouble throwing to first. It was a huge narrative for him at this time, everyone had huge leads and he threw a lot of balls away or just wouldn’t bother. Pham pushed it too far and got caught. Honestly he should’ve just gone to second on the throw.
@ChefMarc87@BAMA2STL The browns were the original Milwaukee brewers who moved to St Louis in 1901 and became the browns, before moving to Baltimore in the 50s and became the modern version of the orioles
@ChefMarc87@BAMA2STL The cardinals were not ever the browns. They were the brown stockings until 1899, when they became the Perfectos and wore cardinal socks. They were then named the Cardinals after the color of their socks when a journalist heard a woman say “what a lovely shade of cardinal”
@FredMas26593657@SD3pete@CodifyBaseball Platinum wasn’t a thing in Ozzie’s day. He was also a 15 time all star and is rated as the most valuable defensive player of all time. Alex probably isn’t a hall of famer in my eyes, but he was very good and deserves his flowers.
@hackedbracket@joonlee The entire storyline around the Blues was about them coming back from last place. When you look up the 85 tournament the first thing you see is talking about what an upset it was. Nova is still the lowest seed to win the tournament.
@hackedbracket@joonlee Everything I seen has them at 100 to 1 at their longest odds, which is still a crazy long shot.
Rest of list:
15-16 Leicester: 5000:1
2004 Red Sox: 120:1
2007 Giants: 30:1 (on the list because of 16-0 pats)
1985 Villanova: 35:1
@RobertSportsBet@SamMonsonNFL You can’t on a 2 pt try. The reason this was allowed is because it’s technically not a fumble. It’s a loose ball from a dropped backwards pass, which is allowed to be advanced, because the offense clearly isn’t trying to fumble forwards when they pass backwards.
