2026 Sports in Kansas 2A Girls 🏀 Player of the Year: Jakayla Davis, St. Mary’s Colgan
Jakayla Davis capped off one of the most dominant careers in Kansas history, finishing with 2,157 points, ranking among the top scorers all-time in the state and establishing herself as one of the best to ever come through St. Mary’s Colgan.
The 5’6 senior averaged 30.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 4.5 steals per game this season, leading Colgan to a 23-3 record and another state tournament appearance. She delivered one of the top performances in the state all year with a 53-point game in the sub-state championship, tying a Kansas state record.
Davis was also a Sports in Kansas Top 5 All-Classes selection this season and was the 2025 Sports in Kansas 2A Player of the Year, continuing her dominance year after year.
She leaves as the school’s all-time leading scorer while setting multiple records, including single game points (53), single season points (757) and most threes in a game (10). She finished her career with a 95-9 record and four state tournament appearances.
“This season was very successful and we fulfilled a lot,” Davis said. “Although it didn’t end how we wanted, we all fought and got better. I’m so proud of what this team accomplished.”
“Jakayla is a once-in-a-generation player,” said head coach Abby Farabi. “No matter the defense, double or triple teams, she always showed up. She made everyone around her better and handled pressure as well as anyone I’ve ever coached.”
Simply put, Davis dominated at a historic level and leaves behind one of the greatest scoring careers the state has seen. She will play at Johnson County next season.
