The EU🇪🇺 is a peace project in itself. We'll continue to support the new € 1bn PEACE PLUS programme, together with the UK and Irish governments.

Finance Minister @conormurphysf today facilitated an important discussion on funding for peace building and interface areas. The lessons learned will inform the €1bn Peace Plus programme.
Today marks the 10th anniversary of the #EUFunded Peace Bridge, a truly iconic project and symbol for peace and reconciliation, in Derry-Londonderry 🎉🇪🇺 It is one of a number of #PEACE Programme funded projects which create safe 'shared spaces' for all communities to enjoy.
Northern Ireland media gives a lot of airplay to angry unelected community members. But there are literally thousands of other unelected community members with more sensible, informed and less hateful views who I am sure would be willing to share their ideas if you asked.
Absolutely delighted to learn of the additional £200m+ commitment from the UK for PEACE PLUS (2021-2027). It will transform the lives of citizens across NI & the border counties of Ireland. The programme is at an advanced stage of preparation. Public consultation to start in 2021
The #SharedIsland event is a continuum of the work of the EU PEACE Programmes managed by @SEUPB They have funded over 23,000 projects since 1994 with over €2 billion from both Governments and the EU. #PeacePlus will continue this work.

The Special EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation, later known better as the PEACE Programmes, owe a great debt of gratitude to John Hume and his fellow MEPs Jim Nicholson and Ian Paisley, along with the President of the European Commission Jacque Delors. Rest in PEACE John!
The SEUPB would like to express its condolences on the passing of John Hume, who along with Jim Nicholson and the late Dr Ian Paisley, were instrumental in bringing the EU’s PEACE Programme to the region 20 yrs ago. A Programme which has made such a difference to so many people.

I am very saddened to hear of the death of #johnhume. A great Irish patriot. A man of Peace. A champion for Democracy. A campaigner for Civil Rights. An advocate for Europe. My sympathies to Pat and family, and to the #SDLP

Today’s vote for a place on the #UN Security Council is the culmination not just of a 3 year campaign but of decades of commitment by #Ireland to sustainable development, human rights, peacekeeping and a rules-based international order. Win or lose, I’m deeply proud to #work4irl
