There is no other way to say it; Caleb Downs is coming off a prolific and historic three-year run in the sport of college football.
Stacking up 100+ tackles in a Nick Saban defense as a freshman at 18 years old, the only freshman to ever lead a Saban defense in tackles.
Exceling as a key leader both on the field and in the locker room for a 2024 Ohio State team that won a National Championship — the school’s first title in a decade. And then this past year — completely living up to, if not exceeding preseason expectations as the best defender in college football by captaining the Buckeyes defense to a historical season in terms of their collective stats, as well as winning awards such as the Lott Impact Trophy, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and the Thorpe Award. 🥇
Not to mention - becoming a back-to-back Unanimous All-American at Ohio State, just the 6th Buckeye ever to accomplish this feat.
I teamed up with The Silver Bulletin out in Oklahoma City at the Thorpe Award Banquet, and asked Downs a few questions - one of them being in what ways he feels like the career arc at the college level has best suited him for the National Football League — a league prone to coaching turnover and turnover in general.
As I close, I’ll close with this — Whichever NFL franchise drafts Caleb Downs is getting someone who has a competitive spirit, knowledge of the game, and a hunger to learn that is unlike any athlete I’ve been around in the 4+ years of being in this space.
Just a very unique person. Someone who will come in Day 1 to an NFL franchise, and immediately his presence his felt by coaches teammates, the front office, etc.
Thank you for taking time out to do this interview, Caleb.
Glory be to God!
This past Tuesday, Ohio State coaches Matt Patricia, Tim Walton, & Matt Guerrieri flew in from Ohio to Oklahoma as a total surprise to Caleb Downs - and the joy in the room was tangible as everyone celebrated his college career together.
This experience getting to interview Coach Matt Patricia was something else! This was a totally unexpected, however it was truly an honor to get to partake in. 🔴⚪️🔴
In this interview brought to you by The Silver Bulletin (@tSilverBulletin), Coach Patricia talks about the traits and the leadership ability of Caleb Downs, and the way number 2 impacted everyone in Columbus during his time there. We also shift the focus of the interview to talk about how excited Coach is for the future of Ohio State’s defense in the 2026 season. In closing, “Matty P” also talks about the origin of where his ability to teach and mentor others comes from. 📝
LAST BUT NOT LEAST…
Buckeye Nation, YOU all did a phenomenal job leaving a first impression on Coach Patricia last year in the home opener against Texas ‼️ Need proof of this?
Listen below.

O-H!!!
Arizona State offensive lineman Champ Westbrooks graduated from high school at just 17 years of age.
A high 3 star prospect coming out of Loyola High School in Los Angeles, close to 18 months of daily work was put in before a moment came in this year’s bowl game to where he would be named a starter against Duke.
Safe to say Westbrooks delivered on the moment. ✅
After waiting his turn behind Max Iheanachor, Westbrooks was given the opportunity to start against Duke out in El Paso back on New Years Eve.
And, let’s just say ASU coaches and the Sun Devil fanbase have a lot to be excited about.
Champ and the offensive line unit as whole helped propel the ASU offense to racking up a staggering 619 yards of total offense - a Sun Bowl record, surpassing any yardage amount that an offense had done in the 90 year history of the Sun Bowl.
Champ’s debut was impressive enough to a point where off of just ONE game of being inserted into the lineup as a starter, he is already considered by credible and trusted media outlets in Tempe to be a key returner looking ahead to the 2026 season. 👀 👀
Greatness is to come!!
Forks Up!!! 🔱 🔱 🔱
Max Brown smells blood in the water. 🩸
It’s always nothing but an honor & a privilege to check in with Jefferson Dragon 2027 linebacker and Clemson verbal commit Max Brown - especially in the January leading up to his senior season.
I mentioned to Max that he is about 7 or so months out from his senior season, and asked him to comment on his mindset and to talk about the kind of hunger that lives with him internally.
He had this to say: “I’m just focused on getting back into a state of being where I’m completely dominant. I want to focus on getting my body right and getting my mind right for a breakout senior year.”
I then asked Max to comment on the exciting Class of 2027 that Jefferson Football has. He replied by saying:
“The thing that excites me most is that everybody in this 2027 class is focused on winning a championship and being leaders. 🐉 🐉
We’re fully locked in and getting after it every day. This year is going to be special. We’re not stopping until we bring a trophy back to the city.”
The message here is simple folks.
In 33 high school football games, Max Brown has registered 238 total tackles & 27 tackles for loss. And that’s not to even mention the damage he does as a running back…
To put it simply, even as a high schooler - his reputation precedes him. Humble, hard-working, great teammate, great student in the classroom, etc.
But that doesn’t negate the fact that when the shoulder pads come on, jersey number 1 for Jefferson High School flips the switch and gets into THAT mode. 🔋 🦈
Max Brown smells blood in the water, and all of GHSA is on notice.
AGTG. ✝️
Deeply grateful to be able to share that an opportunity has presented itself to attend this year’s Jim Thorpe Award Banquet.
25 days from now, I’ll travel out to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in honor and celebration of 2025 Jim Thorpe Award Winner Caleb Downs. 🎖️
Cannot wait for this opportunity to tell stories, write, and serve at this historic event!!
I especially want to thank the LORD, because less than 5 months ago I was still living in the state of Arizona - completely away two of the things I am most passionate about: football and the art of storytelling.
All glory, honor, praise, and adoration are the LORD’s for where he currently has me in life. ✝️
It’s not lost on me how this opportunity is unlike anything I’ve taken on before, and there is a lot of work to do in the lead-up to the Thorpe Award Banquet.
So, let’s get to it!!
Thank you to everyone who has been in my corner.
Godspeed. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
O-H!!!! 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️
If you follow Mississippi HS Football at the 7A level…or if you know anything about high levels of competition - then you know it goes without that saying that 120 tackles and 25 tackles for loss is an extremely solid season for anyone, let alone a SOPHOMORE.
But that is exactly what Class of 2028 Brandon LB Travion Washington (@TravionWas24901) was able to accomplish this past year.
It was such an impressive season that James Laurantis and the Buckeyes offered Washington - and he is actually just one of 4 linebackers in the 2028 class that holds an Ohio State offer (per 247Sports)
I was blessed to catch up with him.
On the topic of the Ohio State offer: “It’s really meaningful. I put in a lot of work to be in this position, and for all the work to pay off in this way feels great. The offer from Ohio State has pushed me to be the best version of myself as possible, and has motivated me greatly to work on my craft everyday.”
On the topic of who Washington models his game after:
“At the college level, I would say Sonny Styles. He’s very versatile - he can stop the run - drop back into pass coverage - take on blocks - shed blocks.
He’s an overall complete linebacker.”
Buckeye nation, show some love!!
Appreciate the time Travion!!
O-H!!!
Despite the loss - I am absolutely still of the mindset that Ohio State safety Caleb Downs’ 2 year run with the Buckeyes, and his college career in general, is worthy of being recognized and celebrated. 🥇
Not to mention he as an individual last night left it ALL out on the field… 8 total tackles and 2 forced fumbles… the only player in CFP history to force two fumbles in the same game. 📝
Caleb - Buckeye Faithful celebrates you, man. 🙌🏼
You are forever a Buckeye Legend… one of the all-time greats in program history, and that cannot and will not ever be taken away from you
Thank YOU for everything, Caleb Downs.
Glory be to God
🔴⚪️🔴⚪️
Look Buckeye NATION, you already know I’m not about to let today come and go without doing what I can to fire us up even more than we already are ‼️
In the words of Ryan Day:
“It’s us against everybody else. That’s it. That’s the mentality we have to have.” 😤
In the words of OSU Jr Wide Receiver Nolan Baudo:
“You and yours versus me and mine. All day long. 60 minutes. 4 quarters.
What more do you want, than this right here?” - Baudo 😤😤
….
Buckeye Nation, LET’S. GO ‼️‼️‼️
Cotton Bowl 2025 - We are READY for you. 🫡
O-H!!!
There is not a better feeling then being a part of someone’s story where they advance in life. Seeing young men grow, become leaders, changing the trajectory of their future, and glimpsing Gods plan for their lives.
What a gift to be able to work with passion and purpose. Thankful.
TJ Lester just wrapped up his true freshman season at University of West Georgia, and from the standpoint of Kingdom Athletics is one of the highest upside running backs in the whole transfer portal right now. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s rewind the clock for a second. 🕰️
Once his sophomore season of high school had concluded, Lester transferred into Milton High School. In two years as a Milton Eagle, Lester had 371 carries, went for a GRAND total of 2,592 yards on the ground, and accumulated 37 touchdowns. MORE than all that, he and his Class of 2025 teammates are memorialized as TWO-TIME State Champions. Back to back. 💍 💍
Granted that any ball knower in the whole state of Georgia is privy to how potent and historic the talent on both of those Milton teams was… no matter how you slice it, Lester was the lead running back on both ball clubs.
Lester then took his talents to Carrollton, Georgia and played at the FCS level last year where in a TRUE freshman season, toted the rock for 432 yards and 6 touchdowns and was universally seen as one of the premier true freshman in the entire FCS. 📈📈
And, that brings us to present day.
Kingdom Athletics was fortunate to touch base and connect with Lester.
Lester had the following words this morning: “I have deep gratitude for University of West Georgia. I’m grateful for my coaches and teammates at UWG. The decision was made out of place of realizing that I have chance to chase different opportunities, benefit my future, and carry out my father’s legacy, and I am in the transfer portal with a lot of faith that GOD will position me exactly where I need to be.” ✝️
TJ and his brother Tristan are DAY ONES when it comes to Kingdom Athletics.
TJ - I appreciate this collaboration more than you know. We are locked in 4L. 🔒
Glory be to GOD. 🕊️
GREAT morning. ✝️
I’m not able to put together a caption that would accurately express how much this specific interview with Tristan Lester means… so instead of spending time trying to come up with something that will grab people’s attention, why don’t I just say the following to Tristan…
Tristan - To be able to serve as the person who gets to do an interview like this - one that recaps an extremely successful and historic three-year run at Milton AND ALSO gives the entire football a glimpse into who you are as a person without the helmet and shoulder pads is just a VERY big deal, fam. 🫂
Thank you for you and your whole family’s unwavering support over the last two plus years.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is Tristan Lester. 221 total tackles. 29 tackles for loss. 2 State Championships. 🏆🏆
Follower of Christ. Servant-leader. Friend to many. Mighty influence. And at the end of the day, a 17 year old with his whole life still ahead of him. ❤️🔥
Listen in and be encouraged by this young man folks, this interview is well worth absolutely ANYONE’S seven minutes.
Thank you Tristan‼️ This is a deep honor, family.
GLORY BE TO GOD. ✝️
Thank you Lord!!!
Blessings everyone.
Aggie Nation you’re going to love this one‼️ …
In terms of not just football, but in San Diego AS A CITY, you can count on one hand how many high school football players have had as much influence over the last decade as Texas A&M Aggie signee Brandon Arrington— a WORLD-class track star and two-way high school football phenom.
10.21 in the 100 meter dash. ⛽️ 💨
20.35 in the 200 meter. ⛽️ 💨
SHATTERED NOAH LYLES record at the Arcadia Invitational….🥇👀
Here is what I might love the most though. Arrington is a leader and he is also completely unafraid to blaze his own trail…
Whether it be as “small” of an example as last night, where his “yes” to participating in the Makasi Bowl 9 caused every 2026 prospect in the city to pop out and put on some pads…. or as large-scale as being willing to trust Coach V and his entire staff in becoming the face of a startup HS program at THE MOUNT, that had historic levels of playoff success in his 2 years at the school, Brandon is unafraid to be different.
As you will hear in this interview, Brandon is a leader and a pioneer in this new football landscape, a landscape where it is the dreamers, innovators, and creative student-athletes that will rise to the top. 📈📈
Listen in as Brandon Arrington gives the people what they want‼️ A true look into his journey, and into his life.
THANK YOU to a truly CERTIFIED 619 Representative, Brandon Arrington, for this interview. 🫡🫡
AG2G!!!! ✝️
The maturity and poise of AJ Logan shines through in a very real way. 💡
👇🏼
“Being humble is the most important thing. If you’re not humble, this sport will humble you.”
- Mount Miguel Class of 2026 WR & Boise State Bronco Signee AJ Logan
Look everyone, this interview with AJ was truly an honor and a privilege to take part in.
With 2,100 YDS and 21 TDS during his outstanding two year run with the Matadors, AJ Logan has left a terrific legacy in Spring Valley for the next guys up. 🫡
I can say with full confidence that Boise State is getting a high-quality leader and a guy who fits exactly into the kind of culture and environment that the Broncos are looking to build these days. 🐴 🟠 🔵 ⚪️
I greatly appreciate this collaboration, AJ!!
Kingdom Athletics wishes you nothing but the absolute best on THE BLUE. 📈📈
AG2G. ✝️
GREAT morning ‼️
I count it a deep honor to be a guest of The 2021 Georgia 7A State Champion Collins Hill Eagles tomorrow — for an extensive visit to network and work alongside coaches, families, student-athletes, etc.
Could not be any more excited to gain a greater perspective of the Collins Hill HS Program
A huge “thank you” to Head Coach Drew Swick for this opportunity! I am deeply appreciative of your support and mentorship, Drew.
Thank you as well to Coach Gary Downs!
G Downs - A door that you opened for me 14 months ago is one I know get to walk into tomorrow. I’m very very grateful for you, brother.
📍: Suwanee, Georgia
Let’s work!!!!
Glory 2 GOD. ✝️
#KingdomAthletics ⚔️
Buckeye Faithful,
I’ve spent a lot of time today processing last night’s game.
And before I say anything else, I urge us to direct our collective attention to the last of these four pictures titled “Why Surrender Builds Confidence”. Those words are the words in which Gary Downs, father of Caleb Downs, shared this morning to his Instagram account following the events of last night.
And, look!
I’ll be the last one to “force” Christ onto anyone.
But what I can say is this… that 24/7 pressure our ball club was under to have a perfect season is now gone.
There is not any unnecessary pressure to maintain perfection, and I believe that will bode well for the team.
And in terms of the Scripture? Well, here’s my thought.
If it works for Gary Downs, father of who is now the 2025 Lott Impact Award winner, I say we might as well give it a try too, right?
I have been in the football space since June 2021, and all I can say is this:
Football makes a terrible god.
Last night’s loss is a lesson, and it is a lesson that we are all wise to take something from.
At the end of the day, we are by far and away the most talented roster in America. Still. That hasn’t changed.
Pound for pound, we have the most talented offensive player in the sport in Jeremiah Smith.
Pound for pound, we have the most talented defensive player in the sport in Caleb Downs.
And loads and loads of talent surrounding them…. here’s the deal though.
Regardless of what your faith background is, I implore you to observe the Scripture this evening:
“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”
- Isaiah 30:15
Buckeye Family - I’m off the mindset we could all some hope and encouragement tonight.
I pray this post does just that.
Thanks for letting me share.
Glory be to GOD. ✝️ 🕊️
