As Establishment Political Party's and politicians they are frightened of losing their control over the political system.
They want to control the narrative around key issues such as Gaza, hence to negatively label dissenting voices as 'extremist' is just one tactic

In the 1980's I noticed when the Govt WANTS to spend money - e.g the £3b given to N.Ireland yesterday - it is termed Government money

If it DOESN'T WANT to spend money - e.g the NHS - it is termed as Taxpayers Money
