50% of the teams that made it to Omaha last year didn’t even make an NCAA Regional this year.
The grit, resiliency, and toughness of this team is special.
Your kids will be like you.
So if there are qualities you see in them that you don’t like, stop trying to “fix” your kids.
Do the real work, look in the mirror, and become the change you wish you’d see in them.
One of the greatest challenges in helping athletes (and parents) develop is this…
👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
We live in a world where most people would rather fabricate a truth that makes them feel good rather than accept the truth of what actually is.
Too many athletes (and parents) can’t handle honest feedback, so they won’t actually do the work to improve their deficiencies.
Months ago someone asked me “how do you keep it interesting?” after being with my wife for such a long time.
I told them we take walks.
We laugh
We fight
We cheer each other on
We challenge one another
We coach each other
We fight
We talk… a lot
We plan
We Dream
We fight
We work through it
We heal and grow together
My point is, we do a lot of we. Over 19 years we’ve gotten even better at fusing our lives together while maintaining our independence. It’s taken a lot of intention curiosity, and compromise. But I’d do it all again for you, for us.
No one else I’d rather do this lifelong journey with Laura Stevens. 😘
It’s not a coincidence the @CoastalBaseball is a national powerhouse of a program.
At BetterLeadership 2026 @KSchnall9 shared a bit of insight on the CCU culture.
It starts with leadership, at every level in the program.
Running teaches more than fitness.
It builds two skills we desperately need today:
– The ability to be alone with your thoughts.
– The ability to connect deeply with others.
In a world dominated by screens and distractions, that’s no small thing.
The saying goes, “You get more of what you focus on.”
I believe this to be true in personal experience and evidence in the lives of others I’ve coached.
So if you’re wanting better out of yourself, out of others, or out of life in general, take a look at what you’re focusing on.
I’ve played golf for 30 years… and finally broke par on Thursday. 35 on the front, 36 on the back.
For those of you who don’t golf, keep scrolling if you like. But for those of you that do golf… you know what the mental battle is like to try and finish a your best round.
The nerves
The thoughts
The doubt
It feels amazing to get over the hump finally. And it reminds me of two things.
1) If we don’t quit, we give ourselves a chance to get better as long as we keep showing up.
2) If we put arbitrary timelines on things, we’ll often feel more disappointment because of our impatience rather than the enjoyment of the journey.
For all you golfers out there, I’m rooting for you. And for everyone else, these two principles remain the same for whatever quest you are on.
I’ll see you on the journey ✌🏽❤️
Relationship hack ❤️
A huge contributor to fulfillment in the nearly 19years of marriage for Laura and I has been the willingness to focus on the good in the other person.
With all of the online discord and disparity between men and women it can be easy to get sucked into the fault-finding approach.
But there’s so much good in the other person of which we need to remind ourselves of.
