I used to think Nick Robinson was smarter than this, but sadly he’s one of many media voices that are attacking @ZackPolanski because they fear the voting public. These media figures patronise us, but we can see through this public school tie arrogance. It’s not journalism, it’s privilege running amok. Zack understands drug research findings, he understands accountability. As a mental health nurse working in South London 30 years ago, we unfortunately had to frequently employ the use of control and restraint (without Tazers), but never needed to apply kicks to the head as part of that. We would have rightly been made accountable.
As for drug treatment options. It was radical measures i.e clean injecting equipment and needle exchange that led to dramatic reductions in HIV infections. Even the Thatcher government accepted the scientific evidence back then.
