District Magistrate (North Goa), Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the directions issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in Civil Appeal No. 6174/2023 and to strengthen compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Panchayat, Municiaplities, Goa State Pollution Control Board, Deputy Collectors and officers of concerned line departments. The need for coordinated action to ensure effective solid waste management and strict adherence to the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court was highlighted.
Special emphasis was laid on compliance by Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs). Local bodies were directed to maintain updated inventories of BWGs and ensure compliance with the requirements relating to segregation, processing and scientific disposal of waste. The Goa State Pollution Control Board and local bodies were instructed to undertake regular inspections and monitor compliance by such entities.
To strengthen monitoring, directions were given to taluka level teams to undertake periodic virtual spot inspections of waste processing facilities, dumpsites and legacy waste remediation sites to assess compliance and ensure timely corrective action. All local bodies and concerned departments were directed to provide necessary support and information for this purpose.
The Goa State Pollution Control Board was requested to provide technical support and regularly monitor compliance with environmental norms, while Deputy Collectors were instructed to coordinate with local bodies and facilitate effective implementation at the field level.
The District Magistrate also directed all local bodies to intensify public awareness campaigns on waste segregation and responsible waste disposal especially in the context of the solid waste management rules, 2026.

The District Level Committee, North Goa was convened on 2nd June, 2026 under the chairmanship of Collector (North Goa) Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS to decide the claims received under Forest Rights Act, 2006. A total of 37 claims from Morlem village in Sattari taluka were decided. Out of these 37 claims, 26 claims were approved and 11 claims were Reverted back to Sub Divisional Level Committee for personal hearing.

Creating a more organized, accessible, and stress-free city landscape requires active coordination and strategic planning. A comprehensive meeting was held with North Goa Collector Mr. Ankit Yadav, IAS and Traffic PI Panaji Mr. Mahesh Kerkar to address urban mobility and streamline our traffic management systems.
We deliberated extensively on various traffic-related issues across the city, exploring both immediate logistical adjustments and long-term solutions to eliminate major choke points and ensure smoother daily commutes for our residents. Our discussion focused on optimizing road usage to ease daily travel for locals while simultaneously ensuring that tourists visiting our city can move through it with minimal confusion.
Our continuous efforts remain centered on looking after the daily convenience of our citizens, while ensuring a welcoming, well-regulated, and orderly environment for our visitors.

Enforcement drive taken up in the jurisdiction of Tiswadi taluka by the Joint Mamlatdar I and Executive Magistrate, Tiswadi Shri Abhijit Gaonkar along with Shri Ronald Martins (GOACAN) under the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) focussing on sale of tobacco products in restricted areas. Various fines were also imposed for non display of boards during the enforcement drive. The initiative aimed to spread awareness while ensuring stricter implementation of tobacco control laws in the capital city

Collector (North Goa), Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS administered the National Anti-Terrorism Day pledge on the occasion of Death Anniversary of Former Prime Minister of India, Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi, to the officials and Staff of Collectorate North Goa.
The District Level Committee, North Goa was convened on 21st May 2025 under the Chairmanship of Collector(North Goa) to decide the claims received under Forest Rights Act, 2006. A total of 46 claims from villages of Bhuipal, Pali and Morlem in Sattari taluka were decided. Out of 46 claims, 41 claims were approved, 03 were rejected and 2 were called for personal hearing.

Chairperson (North Goa DMF) & Collector (North Goa), Shri. Ankit Yadav, IAS, launched the "Goa Amrutkumbha Honey" of Bardez Beekeepers society, Under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF), North Goa at the Collectorate Conference Hall, Panaji-Goa.
A meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority was held under the chairmanship of Collector(North Goa) Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS to review the status of preparedness for the coming monsoon season. Directions were given to all the deputy collectors and mamlatdars to ensure taluka level control rooms are functional 24×7 during the monsoon period.
Further in view of the decisions taken by the State Disaster Management Authority, directions were given to PWD, WRD, municipalities and panchayats to take pro-active preventive measures pertaining to the water logging and landslide prone areas and dilipadited structures in the district, a list of which was shared with all the stakholders.
Taluka wise review of these cases was done and directions were issued to the line departments to take the required mitigation measure in advance to prevent any danger to life and property.

In pursuance of the deliberations held during the District Disaster Management Authority meeting chaired by the Collector & District Magistrate, North Goa on 08/04/2026, and the subsequent taluka-level coordination meeting on pre-monsoon preparedness and public safety held at the Office of the Deputy Collector & SDO, Bicholim on 04/05/2026, precautionary measures have been undertaken to prevent drowning incidents and ensure public safety during the monsoon season.
As part of the said preparedness measures, “Risk of Drowning / Avoid Swimming” warning banners have been displayed at vulnerable water bodies and risk-prone locations across Bicholim Taluka. Some of the locations where the banners have been displayed include Sal Dam bridge near Madveshwar Temple, areas in the vicinity of Rudreshwar Temple at Harvalem, and certain vulnerable locations in Latambarcem.
The banners have been installed to caution the public, tourists and visitors against entering deep-water areas, particularly during the monsoon when water levels, flow conditions and currents may become unpredictable and hazardous.
This initiative forms part of the broader disaster mitigation and public safety measures being undertaken by the Taluka Administration in coordination with concerned departments and local bodies. Citizens are requested to strictly comply with the warnings displayed and avoid swimming, bathing or entering unsafe water bodies.

A meeting of the District Consumer Protection Council (DCPC), North Goa, was held today in the Collectorate, North Goa, under the Chairmanship of Additional Collector-II, Shri Pravin Parab. The meeting was attended by officials from various government departments, stakeholders, and representatives of consumer forums. Shri Amit Sawant, Deputy Director, Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, served as the Member Secretary for the meeting.
The meeting focused on several important issues concerning consumer rights, grievance redressal mechanisms, and strengthening consumer awareness initiatives across North Goa District. Discussions were held on measures to improve coordination among departments and ensure the effective implementation of consumer protection policies at the District level.
Sign boards have been displayed at vulnerable places by village panchayats and valpoi municipal council as per the direction given by Deputy Collector (Sattari) during the review meeting held for monsoon preparedness.
This is aimed to ensure public safety in view of the coming monsoon. Residents and visitors should avoid these areas and stay cautious.

A coordination meeting on pre-monsoon preparedness, disaster mitigation and public safety meeting was held at the Office of the Deputy Collector & Sub-Divisional Officer, Bicholim.
The meeting was chaired by Shri Shubham M. Naik, Deputy Collector & SDO, Bicholim, and was attended by representatives of various line departments and local bodies. The meeting reviewed the preparedness measures required for the ensuing monsoon season, with special focus on management of dangerous trees, clearing of drains and nallahs, road safety, power supply restoration, rescue preparedness, shelter readiness and availability of essential services.
Directions were issued to Village Panchayats and Municipal Councils to identify dangerous trees within their jurisdiction and forward necessary proposals for appropriate action. PWD Roads was directed to undertake roadside bush cutting, pothole repairs, road safety measures and to keep details of JCB/heavy machinery agencies available for emergency response. PWD Buildings was directed to inspect designated relief shelters and ensure that they are in usable condition before the onset of monsoon.
The Water Resources Department was directed to monitor dam water levels and undertake de-silting and flood mitigation measures. The Electricity Department was directed to complete tree clearance near overhead lines and ensure advance arrangements for power restoration. Fire and Emergency Services, Police, Health Department, Civil Supplies, Transport, Agriculture Department, Forest Department and other concerned agencies were directed to keep their emergency response systems ready.
All departments were instructed to submit compliance/preparedness reports with action taken, pending issues, emergency contact details and requirement of assistance. The Deputy Collector & SDO emphasized timely inter-departmental coordination and proactive action to ensure public safety during the monsoon season.
A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Collector, North Goa, Shri Ankit Yadav,IAS, in the presence of Shri Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director (Information Technology), Shri Shivprasad Naik, Deputy Collector, Pernem & Land Acquisition Officer, along with officials from the PWD and IT Department, to deliberate on land procurement for the approach road to the Electronic City project at Tuem, Pernem.
The discussion focused on coordinated action among stakeholders to expedite planning and ensure timely execution of the project.

Field visit conducted by Collector (North Goa) & Principal Census Officer, Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, across various areas of Tiswadi (Rural) charge along with Deputy Director (Census), Charge Officer, Additional Charge Officer and Census staff.
Performance of enumerators and supervisors was reviewed, on-ground challenges were assessed, and necessary interventions were initiated to ensure smooth execution and time-bound completion of Census work.

The 3rd Meeting of the North Goa District Coordination Committee (DLCC) was held under the Chairmanship of the Collector (North Goa), Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS. The meeting was attended by the Chief Electrical Engineer, Superintending Engineer, MS GEDA, Lead District Manager, GCCI representative and other members of the DLCC along with officials from Electricity Department and GEDA.
The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the State, identifying measures to enhance rooftop solar installations across Goa, and discussing the effective implementation of Model Solar Village component under the scheme.
