Thank you to Kiwi team members Ivy Sarker and Rue Mader for creating and facilitating such insightful and engaging workshops.
This was such a wonderful experience and we are so excited to be planning more events like this for the summer.
Today, our team was able to virtually facilitate art and writing workshops at Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario. Thanks to the TOP Zine microgrant, we were able to provide resource kits and teach students about the elements of flash fiction and collage making
The students wrote some flash fiction, created collages, and were introduced to racialized creators based in Canada! They also received materials to continue making art by themselves. We can’t wait to share the incredible artwork created by these students in March 2022.
Happy belated 1 year pub date for “Wildflowers and War”🥳 We are so honoured that you trusted us with your work. You’re an amazing writer and we are so lucky to watch you grow Narisma 🧡
Full piece available to read in Issue 2: Power.

“The hijab was neither my oppressor
Nor was it my enemy worth doubting
It was not an unbearable burden
Placed onto my Muslim body at birth
The hijab was my solace, my choice,
My first best friend in the vast world”
