Asking the Royal Commission into Social Cohesion and Antisemitism if Muslim communities can't give evidence and false claims of antisemitism which conflate a bake sale or wearing a keffiyeh with antisemitism go unchallenged, what exactly is this royal commission for?
The "death tax" scare campaign is the laziest dog whistle in the playbook.
Here are the facts straight from the Budget papers and ATO:
Inheritance isn't taxed.
Estates aren't taxed.
Farms are exempt.
Small business CGT concessions are retained in full.
Existing testamentary trusts are grandfathered.
Fixed testamentary trusts can still be set up for new wills at zero extra tax.
The only change: new discretionary testamentary trusts created after 12 May 2026 will pay a 30% minimum on trust income from 2028.
There are about 10,500 testamentary trusts in Australia — 1% of all trusts. And only the discretionary, income-splitting variety set up from now on is caught.
30% is what a nurse on $80k already pays on her top dollar.
The Right isn't defending battlers.
They're defending the tax planning industry that lets wealth split income across grandkids and bucket companies to pay less than wage earners on the same money.
If you want to leave assets to your kids, nothing stops you.
What's stopping is the loophole.
A Nobel prize winning economist — Vernon Smith — has signed the https://t.co/FD7MehAx9o in support of UBI in response to AI. For anyone who thinks UBI is communism or who thinks we UBI advocates know nothing about economics, you should know he is all about free market capitalism.
Labor needs to respond immediately to the reports CSIRO will tomorrow sack a THIRD of the team working on Australia’s national climate model. Australia’s climate science capability is globally significant & locally irreplaceable. A shameful way to treat our scientists.
Every time an Aboriginal child dies, the response is the same. Not fund services. Not resource families. Demonise an entire culture.
I cannot think of a single instance where a non-Indigenous child’s death prompted calls to demonise all non-Indigenous people. Yet here we are. Again.
The data tells a different story to the one being weaponised right now.
92% of children in NT care are already Aboriginal. The system has never gone soft on Aboriginal people. 82% of those removals are for neglect — the lowest level on the risk continuum, the most vulnerable to cultural bias, and the one that warrants intensive family support. Not removal.
Sexual abuse — where people’s minds immediately go — accounts for 6% of notifications for Aboriginal children. It’s 10% for non-Indigenous children.
We have now surpassed 25,000 Aboriginal children removed from their families. The same number as the Stolen Generations. We are not learning. We are repeating.
In WA, removing just 4 of 20 child protection districts — the most remote, the most under-resourced — drops the Aboriginal removal rate from 61% to 38%. In the Kimberley, 100% of children in care are Aboriginal. The Pilbara, 96%. It defies logic. We are supposed to believe there has never been a non-Indigenous child in the Kimberley deemed in need of state protection.
The Kimberley also has the highest rates of child suicide in the country — Indigenous children dying at 6 times the rate of non-Indigenous children. Removal does not protect children. It destroys them. And the harm is generational.
Meanwhile, the government funds intensive family support programs that 80% non-Indigenous families access — delivered by a workforce that is 90% non-Indigenous. Over the past decade, the non-Indigenous removal rate has fallen 13%. The Indigenous rate has risen 120%. Same system. Same decade. One group served, one group not.
Only 5% of child protection notifications come from wealthy suburbs. We are targeting poor Black families while other children go unseen.
Child abuse is a human issue. Linking culture to abuse is eugenics. It has always been eugenics.
The pipeline is straightforward: removal → justice system → substance use → violence → poor health → poor education. Every organisation working on those outcomes exists largely because of the Stolen Generations. We are building the next generation of that client base right now.
The Child Placement Principle has never stopped authorities from protecting a child at genuine risk. If Senator Price and the CLP believe otherwise, they need to show us exactly where. Not rhetoric. Actual cases. Abd report those cases. Dont stand in front of the country and demonise an entire culture acting like the system hasn’t removed children at breathtaking numbers. And deny the fact that when families reach out fir help they are being harmed instead.
What it does is prevent us from repeating history.
We are repeating history.
BREAKING: AOC absolutely DOG-WALKS Senator Ted Cruz after he insulted her working class past as a bartender in a sneering line of attack.
She certainly sounds like a president to us...
"Congresswoman, real quick, I'm sorry to ask you about this, but Ted Cruz called you a parasite and disparaged your work as a bartender. Any response to this Junior Senator from Texas," a reporter asked Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
"I mean, listen, it's not a secret the disdain that Ted Cruz has for people who work working class jobs," said AOC. "It's not a secret that, you know, what he thinks of the waitresses, the line cooks, he thinks that we're less than him."
"He thinks that because he has a Harvard degree and never scrubbed a table, that that makes him better than someone who's actually had to work for a living," she continued. "And I think it's funny that he's been taking a government paycheck for twenty-three years, but has the audacity to criticize someone who has come from a family that had to work their way up and earn their place here."
"And you know, if that's how he feels, that's how he feels. I don't take it personally. I'm okay with it," she added.
In a recent podcast appearance, Cruz — who is best known these days for fleeing his constituents in Texas during a deadly winter storm to vacation in Cancun — attacked Ocasio-Cortez for daring to state the truth that billionaires "can't earn" that much wealth.
He referenced her past employment as a bartender and said that it's "probably true" that people in that line of work can never earn a billion dollars. He added that she went from that job to "being a government employee and a parasite sucking on the taxpayer."
The stunning irony here is, of course, that Cruz himself draws a taxpayer salary and has been doing so far longer than Ocasio-Cortez. The difference is that AOC actually works to improve the lives of her constituents while Cruz actively immiserates them on behalf of corporations and corrupt oligarchs.
The congresswoman is also right about his underlying beliefs. Cruz, like so many Republican politicians, believes that the rich are inherently better than working class people. They view the vast swath of the American electorate as subhuman peons to be exploited and extracted from. Men like him should never be given power.
Please ❤️ and share if you'd vote for AOC in a heartbeat!
@greedandgrumpy@DavidShoebridge Some of those war dead were aboriginal people . Other aboriginal service people returned to a country that did not give them the same rights as other Australians !
If you reward the noise, you train the system.
You don’t fix ugly behaviour by redesigning the room around it.
If a Welcome to Country gets booed, the question isn’t should we remove it?
It’s, what kind of country are we becoming if we do?
ANZAC Day is about courage not just on the battlefield, but in who we choose to stand beside.
If inclusion is the first thing we drop when it’s uncomfortable… then unity was never real.
That booing on ANZAC day was terrible says the RSL - so we are going to give in to it and let local RSLs cut the welcome to country. The worst response to ugly racist meanness. https://t.co/ZleiFvWNrA
It is said that the young man in the photo, named Ahmed Abdullah, was a pharmacist working in a pharmacy. Every month, an elderly poor woman would come to him for her medicine. She would then approach him at the cash register... Whenever she saw him, her face would light up with joy. For years, she had been buying this medicine, and this young man would only take 200 Egyptian pounds from her. She would pay and leave.
Then, the young man passed away... The elderly woman returned to the same pharmacy, requested her medicine, and went to the cash register to pay 200 pounds. But he was not there.
Before she could ask about him, the new cashier said: “What is this, madam?”She replied: “This is 200 pounds for the medicine.”He responded: “But this medicine costs 2,000 pounds, madam.”
Surprised, she said: “But for more than three years, I have been getting it for 200 pounds from the young man who was here... Where is he?”
The new cashier replied: “He passed away, madam. May God have mercy on him.” Upon reviewing the records, it was discovered that this young man had been covering 1,800 pounds of the cost every month from his own salary at the pharmacy.
When the pharmacy owner learned of this, he decided to continue selling the medicine to the woman at the same price as an ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah) for the sake of the young man’s pure soul. The least we can do to honor this exemplary young man is to let his photo travel the world without stopping, so that everyone may pray for mercy upon him. He deserves recognition.
If you're complaining about too few kids being born, their cost is what you should be focused on. The solution is universal basic income, universal healthcare, and universal childcare. That's how to make raising kids more affordable.
It was David McBride who blew the whistle, triggering the Brereton report & laying the groundwork for Ben Roberts‑Smith’s charges.
The thanks he got was jail, while war criminals roamed free.
It’s about time Roberts-Smith is put away for good, but McBride must be released.
Hussam Abu Safieh is one of the Palestinian doctors (among 95 other doctors) that will be killed by the “Israeli death penalty for hostages.”
Do not let them murder him. Repost this.
Diesel just got humiliated on its own turf by Chinese #EV Truck 🚚.

Electric truck: 25 minutes faster + ~85% cheaper energy
Not greener. Not nicer. Just better.
