Sally Hunt: ‘If I wished to avoid being held to account ...then I am certainly in the wrong job!’ As the GS used the all-member email to argue her position on #UCU2018, will @UCU also now circulate delegate majority statement? https://t.co/F0u4GwCmhQ #righttoreply#ourUCU
After #UCU18 - Discuss where next for our disputes and union democracy. Saturday 9 June, 2pm. Pearson Building, UCL - hosted by @LondonUCU, supported by @ucusolidarity: https://t.co/XdwD7muH1K
This Saturday! Please let us know if you are sending a delegation/representative from your branch. All UCU members welcome! #ucu18#ucutransformed https://t.co/6yQyns6iQ5
7: More than anything #UCU2018 showed that members are engaged.
The #ourUCU statement is testament to the many delegates who wanted to fight for our union. A union whose members fight for it is a union that can fight for its members.
6: We agreed to use the coordinated action taken by 12 FE colleges as the basis for a national campaign for fair pay (FE2, FE3) and to limit Principals' pay (FE4).
This could bring the energy seen after our national #USSstrikes action to FE.
#UCU2018#ourUCU
5: We agreed to hold a sector conference to discuss the HE Pay and Equality claim (HE1.A.1) and to develop national action around casualisation, equality & workload. We will focus on better pay for the lowest paid (HE1.A.2) & reducing pay inequality (HE2,HE14).
#UCU2018#ourUCU
4: We agreed a USS National Dispute Committee (HE13).
This will ensure that members and branches maintain control of the dispute should it re-start in the next academic year.
#UCU2018#ourUCU
3: We agreed to hold a sector conference to discuss the first USS JEP report in September or October (HE46).
That will put members in control of the #USS dispute and future industrial action.
#UCU2018#ourUCU
2: Lots of motions to increase transparency & accountability (7-9, L1, HE47)
Relating to ‘consultative ballots’; ways for branches & members to intervene in National meetings; plain English info on decision-making structures; & transparency as the norm for JEP.

Reasons to be cheerful after the #UCU2018 debacle (or why it wasn't all bad).
1: We agreed to hold a UCU Democracy Review (B19). This gives us a chance to consider ways to promote democracy in #ourUCU. Couldn’t be better timing!

The twitter account @ourUCU is currently run by @jessmeacham @rachellaracohen and @skourkos1. We are all members of @UCU and were delegates at #UCU2018. We are not in a single 'faction'. The account will be used to support members' fight for greater democracy in #ourUCU.
