A modern transport network is the backbone of economic growth, regional integration and national competitiveness.

Convened a consultative meeting with Hon. @davis_chirchir , EGH, Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, alongside senior Government officials and technical teams, to review progress and chart the way forward for the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and the Nairobi Railway City Project (NRCP).

Our discussions focused on advancing the Mombasa–Malaba SGR corridor, with onward connectivity to Kampala, Kigali, Juba and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as envisioned by Cabinet in 2012, as well as accelerating the implementation of the Nairobi Railway City Project.

These transformative projects will strengthen Kenya's position as the gateway to East and Central Africa by reducing the cost of transport, improving the movement of people and goods, expanding regional trade, attracting investment and creating thousands of employment opportunities. They also reinforce Kenya's ambition to become a world-class logistics, manufacturing and commercial hub serving the wider region.

Austria has long been a trusted partner of the @UN, with a proud tradition of diplomacy that has shaped international cooperation for decades.

Today, I had the honour of meeting with H.E. Christian Stocker, Federal Chancellor of Austria, at the historic Chancellery building.

We had an excellent discussion on how we can build on Austria’s role as a UN host country, including elevating its international profile, supporting its vibrant and diverse community, and ensuring the UN’s presence in Vienna remains a platform for dialogue.

I look forward to working closely with Austria, particularly during its 2027–2028 term on the UN Security Council, to strengthen multilateralism and reinforce the importance of the UN’s work.

Assented to the Finance Bill, 2026, and the Appropriation Bill, 2026, which provide the legal framework and resources required to finance our transformation priorities, create jobs, strengthen livelihoods and invest in the future.

The Finance Act, 2026, does not raise taxes. Instead, it improves fairness by strengthening compliance, closing loopholes and ensuring that every individual and business pays what is lawfully due.

We are pursuing tax avoidance, not taxpayers; offshore schemes, not ordinary wages; and leakages, not livelihoods.

Contrary to misinformation, there are no taxes on freehold land, no taxes on mitumba, no changes to rental income tax, no tax on bottled water, no new tax on M-PESA or mobile money transactions, no new tax on mobile airtime or data, and no new tax on locally manufactured packaging for essential products.

Our budget invests in people, productivity and prosperity. Education has received the highest allocation at KSh784 billion, up from KSh526 billion in 2022. Funding for health has increased from KSh132 billion to KSh175 billion. Agriculture has risen from KSh44 billion to KSh63 billion.

To cushion Kenyans against fluctuations in fuel prices, KSh21.5 billion has been set aside for fuel stabilisation, among other key interventions.

Foreign Service Officers have been urged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and patriotism as they prepare to take up diplomatic assignments in Kenya’s missions abroad.

Speaking at the close of the Pre-Departure Training Programme at the Foreign Service Academy, Ambassador Josphat K. Maikara Stressed the need to advance Kenya’s national interests, strengthen bilateral and multilateral partnerships, and promote economic diplomacy and diaspora engagement.

He noted that the conduct of officers will play a critical role in shaping Kenya’s image and influence on the global stage.

Speaking on behalf of Africa, I called for a new paradigm in global relations- one grounded not in hierarchy, but in sovereign equality; not in aid alone, but in mutual benefit and shared prosperity.

Africa seeks neither dependency nor patronage. We seek partnership. Not as beneficiaries, but as equals. Not as spectators, but as co-authors of a shared future.

As Kenya continues to expand its global footprint, we recognise that diplomacy is not only conducted in meeting rooms and conference halls. At the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, world leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening international cooperation on development, investment and sustainable economic growth as key drivers of shared global prosperity.

H.E. President @WilliamsRuto and H.E. Lee Jae-myung of the Republic of Korea, representing the invited partner countries, Kenya supported a number of forward-looking commitments aimed at addressing some of the most pressing global challenges of our time.

Among the key outcomes were renewed efforts to tackle growing debt vulnerabilities affecting developing economies, strengthen the global debt architecture through greater transparency and improve access to sustainable financing. Leaders also advanced discussions on healthcare, including early cancer detection and treatment, safeguarding children and young people in the digital space, climate action, the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the fight against transnational drug trafficking.

Kenya's presence at the G7 reflects the country's growing diplomatic capital and rising influence in shaping international conversations. It demonstrates that Kenya is not merely participating in global forums, but increasingly contributing to the decisions and solutions that affect economies, societies and future generations.

For Kenyan citizens, these engagements help unlock investment opportunities, strengthen economic partnerships, support health and climate initiatives, and ensure that Kenya's voice and interests are represented where important global decisions are made.
