This is why local law enforcement cooperation with ICE is so critical. A few days ago, the Columbia (WI) County Sheriff's Department pulled over a driver who spoke no English and refused to give his name and birthdate.
That's because he is Roberto Briones Arauz, an illegal alien from Nicaragua who was wanted for sexual assault, false imprisonment, strangulation and suffocation, battery, and disorderly conduct.
He was previously deported from the US in 2023, but snuck back in. Columbia County Sheriff's Deputies arrested him, realized he had an ICE detainer, called the agency and are now holding him until he can be picked up.
No dangerous criminals released back onto the streets. No rioting and chaos from left-wing crazies when ICE has to go door-to-door to try and find these dangerous criminals. Just cooperation with federal officials and adherence to federal law.
A dangerous criminal is on his way out of the country and no law enforcement agents are put in harm's way trying to bring him in after a sanctuary county releases him into the community to victimize others.
The public is protected, law enforcement agents are protected, and justice is served. Kudos to Columbia County for doing what every other county in America should.
