Team No Bride Price,
Some people have been asking why ladies are quiet in this conversation. Here is a testimony of a lady that went into depression due to her parents’ pressure on her man for bride price, including having to pay for gifts they would give back to him! Obukopi and shamelessness

Every time I see this clip, a new level of anger builds inside me. What was the point really? Who will ever pay the price for this kind of dehumanization 🙆🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️
I CANNOT WAIT FOR CHECKMATE IN TOORO - 1
1) As a longtime avid chess player,
Who played chess and drafts with my father,
And played omweso with my paternal uncles
On slow evenings in our village home in Kalinga,
I’m captivated by Batooro’s succession wrangles.
The pieces on the chess board keep moving.
The moves are breath-takingly bold and harsh.
The pace, suspense, skill and strategy are magnificent!
Alas, I cannot wait for checkmate in Tooro!
2) When news of Omukama Oyo’s demise came,
I assembled pieces on Tooro’s old chess board.
Omusuuga hid a black pawn in his right hand
And carefully hid a white pawn in his left hand.
He held both hands behind his back and waited.
Queen Mother did not make us wait for too long.
She sat down and chose Omusuuga’s left hand.
Her choice gave her the right to the first move.
Alas, I cannot wait for checkmate in Tooro.
3) Queen Mother opened with the most powerful move.
1.e4 - she moved her King’s pawn forward 2 squares.
She armed the Munyankore regent to break the news.
Not only did he announce that King Oyo transitioned,
But he also tweeted the presence of Omukama’s heir.
And he offered Uganda 3 days of official mourning.
All masts were to fly at half-mast all over Uganda
A day before, during and after the King’s burial.
This move immediately claimed space at d5 and f5,
Right in the critical center of the chess board.
Devastated, Omusuuga knew his opponent’s fury!
Alas, I cannot wait for checkmate in Tooro.
4) Omusuuga recognised the direct aggressive attack.
Queen Mother was not bitching, she came for war!
Tactically, she was aiming for quick piece advance.
Based on years of war, Omusuuga weighed his options.
The Sicilian Defense versus the Open Game response,
The Caro-Khann Defense versus the French counter.
1…c5 versus 1…e5 versus 1…c6 versus 1…e6?
Choosing a measured response, he moved to 1…e5.
Omusuuga mirrored Queen Mother’s move to the center.
He questioned whose right it was to speak this matter.
He denied King Oyo has a child, heir or successor.
He declared Batooro kings are mourned 9 days not 3.
He pooped on the president’s power to break the news.
Alas, I cannot wait for checkmate in Tooro.
5) Choosing a highly tactical and explosive response,
Queen Mother responded with the Open Sicilian.
She moved her knight to f3 in the classic 2.Nf3.
She instructed the Omuhikirwa to stage at Buziga.
A vigil was mounted at King Oyo’s castle in Kampala.
A condolence book was opened for lazy celebrities.
Food, chairs, tents, lights, toilets were rolled out.
Omuhikirwa linked up with central government leaders.
An inter-ministerial committee was financed.
Military minister Henry was dispatched as manager.
Henry and Omuhikirwa addressed journalists in Buziga.
Queen Mother rubbed her royal hands with glee.
She felt certain she was in control of the board.
Alas, I cannot wait for checkmate in Tooro.
6) Omusuuga was pissed, but he’d been here before.
He decided to move like a world champion of war.
His second move was the traditional 2…d6.
He organised his own press meeting to call the bluff.
He ordered immediate shut down of Buziga Castle.
He decreed Omukama’s official palace was Karuziika.
He questioned Omuhikirwa’s audacity to steal the show.
He challenged on whose authority anyone spoke!
“Akigambire nkoha? Akigambire nkoha?” He asked.
He declared that he was taking charge as the King
Until the King’s successor was announced in 9 days.
He banned bathing, hugging and sex for nine days.
The Omusuuga instructed a call for the Orukurato.
He awaited his opponent’s next move on the board.
Alas, I cannot wait for checkmate in Tooro.
Coda
Non-players of chess can enjoy the music interlude.
I will return later to the game of chess in Tooro.
