6/3 Senator Susan Collins voted for an anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ federal judge nominee rated “unqualified” by the Bar Association. Katie Lane is 34 years old, has never tried a case, and was confirmed to a lifetime appointment to the federal bench. #maine#MEpolitics
Intelligence only works when analysts evaluate the facts and tell the truth.
After a nominee spoke about the importance of independent analysis and the willingness to tell policymakers what they don't want to hear, his response to my follow-up question was disappointing.
Hey maybe between sexting stories someone could write about how Susan Collins has been working to block Dem efforts to kill Trump's DOJ slush fund and is now explicitly opposing their proposal? #MEpolitics@BenKail@aseitzwald
Susan Collins says Blanche’s comments yesterday on DOJ victimization fund were “helpful in that he did not equivocate”
She says she would support amendments to restrict who can apply
@aobrien2010 It's not just that online life is not real life. It's that legacy political media is trapped in the 1980s. (And trying to drag the rest of us back there.)
@aseitzwald@MaineVillager Yes SHE brought it up. When are YOU going to bring it up with voters and ask what they think of it?
Some issues just 'demand' to be covered -- you have no choice -- yet the most consequential ones don't ever seem to make the cut. Why is that? Isn't that a problem? #MEpolitics
Lane, a Republican Nat'l Cmtee lawyer who refused at her hearing to say who won the 2020 election, has never taken a case to jury verdict and only ever cross-examined one witness in federal court. https://t.co/TWp9y4Gss8
Susan Collins voted yes. Angus King voted no. #MEpolitics
By a vote of 50-44, the Senate invoked cloture on Kathleen S. Lane to be U.S. District Judge for the District of Montana.
Not voting: Senators Bennet, Fetterman, McCormick, Rounds, Schatz, and Tillis. This was a party line vote.
@NickyFrank30 All the same, this is a poor argument bordering on incoherent.
Based on what's known a vote for Susan Collins is a vote for GOP control and a vote for Platner is a vote against GOP control.
Not sure why you vote for Collins cuz you fear Platner might do what you know she'll do.
When asked whether Democratic Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner passes the “character test,” after CBS confirmed reporting that Platner's wife told his campaign about sexually explicit texts he sent to other women, Sen Chris Murphy (D-CT) says Platner has lived a life of service to the U.S., but “also made mistakes and he has admitted that.”
“I think this is going to be a pretty clear contrast in Maine between somebody who has spent his life protecting us versus somebody who seems to be protecting Donald Trump's corruption,” he says.
Susan Collins et al seem surprised that Mainers are so far viewing anonymous sh*tposts her opponent put up on an internet forum as a private citizen 7 or 10 or 13 years ago as less weighty/grave than her votes and official acts as a US senator.
They shouldn't be! #MEpolitics
Only time we're aware of Susan Collins giving an extended answer on her responsibility for the cost in lives/treasure of her Iraq vote is at 59:57.
Note how self-directed the answer is and the absence of regret.
(Note the shift since then on Trump too.) https://t.co/HDLHqUHh3I
