🦋 What a week in Miss Kelsey’s class! Students followed the butterfly life cycle from caterpillar to butterfly and celebrated with a special release. We loved seeing students use AAC and core communication boards to share observations, make requests, and participate. 💙
🎓🤝 Colonial Academy hosted a Resource Fair focused on preparing students for life beyond high school. Students connected with agencies supporting independent living, transition planning& employment services while staff engaged in PD sessions to support student success!
Game on! CIU 20 Junior Tech Leaders wrapped up the year with “Game Wars,” where students showcased original games they designed themselves. Visitors played, voted & interacted with creators as students demonstrated creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and coding skills!
Students in Ms. Steinmetz’s class at Tracy Elementary School recently hosted a school-wide lemonade stand to support the school’s PTA! We loved seeing them practice teamwork, communication, and customer service skills while giving back to their community.
We’re grateful to partner with the Garden Club at Nitschmann MS after they received a grant to enhance their outdoor spaces! 🌸 Students in Mr. Rice’s class have helped plant flowers, spread mulch, and water the garden beds while building teamwork and hands-on learning skills.
Our team had a great day with Lori Bray and the Life Skills class from Pen Argyl Area High School ✨ We were so happy to host this amazing group for their field trip today and support hands-on experiences that help build important life and workplace skills! 🧸❤️ @ColonialIU20

Congrats to the Colonial Academy students who completed the Earn a Bike program with Community Bike Works! Over several months, students built leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through hands-on bike repair and earned their own bike and helmet!
A huge thank you to Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School for hosting our Excellence in Education Awards & Merit Scholars Ceremony! Chef Daniel Berardesca and students in Culinary Arts, Commercial Baking & Graphic Communications made the evening extra special.
May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month! From classrooms to pools, and anywhere in between, our speech therapists support students in real-life settings. Communication doesn’t just happen at a desk, it happens everywhere. 😁

Creativity and curiosity were on full display at Pocono Mountain West High School! 🫶 Students built paper mâché volcanoes and brought them to life with erupting reactions 🌋 Hands-on learning + teamwork helped grow science knowledge and communication skills!

The Earth Day celebrations at Colonial Early Learning Center 😍🌱🌍 saw Ms. Kelsey's class planting spider plants, making 'dirt' dessert, and learning to protect our planet while improving communication skilils with Ms. Maria.
Congrats to the CIU 20 Regional Academic Competition finalists! 🥇 Delaware Valley HS 🥈 Nazareth Area HS 🥉 Notre Dame HS. Students showcased quick thinking in literature, math, science, history, geography, and current events.
This Autism Awareness Month, Tracy Elementary came together in a big way! 💙 Thanks to CIU 20 teacher Courtney Steinmetz and her team, Elizabeth Yost, Howard Blakeslee, and Rachael Thomas, for organizing a schoolwide dress-down week to support and celebrate every student 🫶
