Newly appointed state engineer Jason Ullmann joined the CRD Board of Directors at their third quarterly meeting of 2024 to introduce himself, provide updates on the work of the state engineer’s office, and answer the directors’ questions.

At their July quarterly meeting, the Colorado River District Board voted unanimously to approve funds for three Community Funding Partnership (CFP) requests totaling just over $660,000.

The Colorado River District’s mission is to lead in the protection, conservation, use, and development of the water resources of the CO River water basin for the welfare of the District, and to safeguard for Colorado all waters of the CO River to which the state is entitled.
During their third quarterly board meeting of 2024 on July 16 & 17, the Colorado River District Board of Directors will be asked to consider taking action on several Community Funding Partnership applications.

The Town of Carbondale’s Crystal River Restoration Project has completed the in-channel restoration efforts and is currently restoring about 900 feet of stream bank on the Crystal River.

#community The Colorado River District recently provided a $207,500 emergency grant to the East Mesa Water Company to repair three large sinkholes that rendered the East Mesa Ditch inoperable.
The East Mesa Ditch serves 11 agricultural shareholders in the Crystal Valley.

The Middle Colorado Watershed Council has secured all funds and completed engineering and design to rehabilitate a diversion and construct a fish barrier on Roan Creek!
The project will protect native fish species while improving the agricultural diversion.
