CUD as it is currently defined isn’t addiction, and if it is, we’d damn well better adjust the criteria for other substances like SSRIs and benzodiazepines to match - especially given the issues that withdrawal present for both compared to cannabis.

Using SSRIs/benzos daily as directed makes you a compliant patient. Using cannabis the same way gives you a CUD label that conveniently supports the narrative developed when it was framed as an illicit drug with no accepted medical uses, which isn’t the case any more.

Oh, I don’t mean to drag on qualitative research at all & have briefly studied those methodologies myself prior to diving into quantitative methodologies.

From what I’ve found, his dissertation was a comparative study of drug policy in two cities with no original qualitative data gathered. In my program, it is nearly impossible to get a dissertation approved without *some* original quant/qual data collection/analysis process.

It is one of many reasons why I find his influence so irritating. As you said, he is not a scientist or medical doctor but wants masquerade as one.
