Edmund Thornton Jenkins was born on this day in 1894 in Charleston, the son of Rev. Daniel Jenkins.
Florence B. Price is a classical composer, pianist, organist and music teacher noted as the first African-American woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer.
The MPS Foundation, our new Milwaukee education partner, along with CEO Myra Edwards and Colour of Music Festival Founder & Artistic Director Lee Pringle, were onsite recently observing the 4th and 5th grade students from the MPS school district.
