๐จ The Colts are trading 3x Pro Bowl DT DeForest Buckner back to the San Francisco 49ers, per @RapSheet and @AdamSchefter.
Buckner returns to the team that drafted him in 2016.
Another great Colt gone. ๐
DeForest Buckner as a Colt:
โ 95 Games
โ 420 Combined Tackles
โ 47 Sacks
โ 63 TFLs
โ 2x Pro Bowler
โ 2020 First-Team All-Pro
One of the best defensive players weโve had in Indianapolis. Thank you for everything, DeFo. ๐๐ค

Indianapolis' return of a 3rd and a 5th for Quenton Nelson is the most pure draft capital for a guard since at least 2011, per Spotrac. only 4 have netted a 4th:
2013: G. Carimi, 4th
2014: L. Mankins, 4th + player
2021: B. Bredeson + 5th + 7th, 4th
2025: J. Thuney, 4th
I think this is both the best example of why the return for Quenton Nelson isnโt as irresponsible as some are suggesting, and also why the Chris Ballard era needed to end: non-premium positions.
Itโs why Big Qโs return seems weak, and why JT wonโt even sniff a 1st-rounder.
Quenton Nelson as a Colt:
โ 136 Games (136 Starts)
โ 8x Pro Bowler
โ 3x First-Team All-Pro
โ 3x Second-Team All-Pro
โ 2018 PFWA All-Rookie Team
One of the greatest guards to ever do it. Thank you for everything, Big Q. ๐๐ค
Shane Steichen on his continued confidence in Daniel Jones (via @HolderStephen):
โHeโs proven that he can do it. So thatโs where the confidence comes from. And we need to get him back playing to that level that he was last year. Itโs taking a little bit longer.โ
Thoughts?
