Animation was by far my favourite unofficial section of the #Cannes2026 and I decided to curate a few that I loved the most for @therollingtape https://t.co/98LUV2VK1z
No-one was expecting LA BOLA NEGRA to blow people away like it did towards the end of the festival! Read my thoughts over on @therollingtape of why it just worked on so many levels! https://t.co/Yec55e9WRy
One of the two Léa Seydoux films In Competition at #Cannes2026 and unfortunately, it did disappoint despite Seydoux’s best efforts, read my thoughts here: https://t.co/G1dmy1ec8U @therollingtape
35 years of THELMA & LOUISE has never felt so good! I dive into why it is still unmatched and so relevant today (and why Cannes decided to honour it this year!) @therollingtape https://t.co/SdVvQhWGmJ
Day 11 at Cannes and it’s my final day of movies. It’s been an insane ride but ready to end the festival on a high #Cannes2026
LA BOLA NEGRA
WE ARE ALIENS
LA BOLA NEGRA is a tapestried, historical epic spanning multiple timelines and gay romances yet are tightly bound together. Its patience in its artistic storytelling pays off in what hits you like an emotional whirlwind. Believe the hype.
Sandra Hüller is constantly operating at tour-de-force level. FATHERLAND is no different. Her characterisation of Erika is so beautifully layered in intellect and grief. I continue to be wow-ed by her! @mubi
Łukasz Żal does what he does best in FATHERLAND - I am always blown away by his cinematography but he continues to showcase masterful craftsmanship in his work.
Wow. I am utterly floored. CENIZA EN LA BOCA is a pensive meditation of kinship, maternal relationships and the sacrifices you make for those you love. Diego Luna’s direction is enamouring. You can feel the love he is outpouring to his country, Mexico. A must see!
Casually caught Jane Schoenbrun, Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson at the tale end of their @IndieWire talk. They talk about TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA with so much love. I didn’t think I could be more excited for this film but I am now! ✨
IN WAVES is so deeply personal yet universally evocative. A devastating & cathartic dissection of love, mortality and sacrifice. Hsu and Sharpe's tremendous voice acting together with the stunning animation make this a beautiful start to the Critics Week lineup.
@VincentCadena@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN It sold out in a few weeks I think, and a lot of people cancelled after they realised there would be no English subtitles
