🚇 Columbia University and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced a provisional agreement to undertake station upgrades at the 125 Street 1 subway station in Manhattan.

The upgrades include three modernized elevators, widened escalators, and system improvements at the station, which is directly adjacent to Columbia’s Manhattanville campus.

"Columbia has long supported major capital upgrades to the MTA's 125th Street station to improve the daily experience for the thousands of New Yorkers who rely on it," said Columbia University Senior Executive Vice President Robert Kasdin. "Upon final approval by the necessary agencies, Columbia's investment will support improvements that make it easier for residents, students, and workers to move through the neighborhood. We're proud to join the MTA, elected officials, and the local community to help advance a project that will benefit everyone who depends on this station."

Important update regarding access to Canvas/CourseWorks and impact on exam period:

The University has restored Columbia user access to Canvas/CourseWorks following the restoration of services by Instructure, the platform’s parent company.

Access to Canvas/CourseWorks has been restored for Columbia users using valid UNI credentials. If you encounter challenges accessing the login page successfully, please contact CUIT.

Individual schools and instructors will communicate directly with students regarding any residual impacts to final exams or assignment deadlines.

We are deeply grateful to our entire community for your patience and understanding as we navigate this complex and understandably frustrating situation. We also want to extend our sincere thanks to our deans, faculty, and staff, who worked tirelessly throughout the night to maintain continuity and support our students and academic operations as fully as possible.
