Atmos Energy has requested Columbus Police to close Highway 45 N in front of Applebee’s until 5:30 pm for a valve repair.
Only the southbound (inbound) toward Columbus lanes are affected. Please use an alternate route.
WATERWORKS BRIDGE REOPEN

Due to the amazing work of Perma Corp. and Columbus Light and Water, the Waterworks Bridge over the Lux is reopen earlier than planned!

Waterworks Bridge over the Luxapallila Creek will be closed for emergency water line repairs beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning (Tuesday, 1-26-21). The repairs are estimated to take six to eight hours. Please use an alternate route during this time. Thank you.
The diesel has been cleared from the roadway heading to Starkville on Highway 82 between Waters Truck and Tractor and the Airport exit. Please continue to use caution as the roads are wet. Thank you.
Diesel fuel has been spilled on Highway 82 heading toward Starkville. It starts near Waters Truck and Tractor all the way to the GTR Airport exit. MDOT has been notified. Please use caution since the diesel fuel and light rain are making the road very slick. Thank you.
CPD looking for a dark gray SUV involved in a shooting near 5 p.m. today 1/5/20 at the intersection of 6th St & 5th Ave South. One person shot, unknown injuries. Victim and suspect knew one another; they were involved in an argument. Call Crimestoppers with info at 800-530-7151.
One person has died after a shooting inside an abandoned house near 17th St. and 5th Ave. S. The incident occurred near 4:30 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2019. One other person sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Those involved knew each other; incident was not random.
No is hurt but a Columbus Municipal Schools bus with 9 children on board has been hit by a car on Pandora Drive. The car sideswiped the bus as the car attempted to pass the stopped bus. Everyone is fine and the bus only suffered minor damage to the side. CPD working the case.

Monday, 9-16-19: Looks Great Services boom trucks are back in Columbus for another pickup of storm debris. Residents are asked to have debris to the roadway immediately for pickup at no charge. Crews are working all areas that had debris from the storm.

Columbus Police are asking for assistance in locating a 66-year-old man with known medical conditions. Willie Mack Henderson, Jr. lives in the 1300 block of 2nd Avenue North in Columbus.
He was last seen on Aug. 6, 2019, when he was walking in the area of 18th St & 7th Ave North.

CPD investigating a shooting incident that occurred outside the lower Propst Park Activity Center late Saturday night, July 20, 2019.
CPD responded within minutes of the 11:35 p.m. call to 911.
The incident is still under investigation.
