@Stephen78857051 Phil Herne was one of my favourite riders, very unassuming. I remember hearing an interview with him once & he was asked what do you do now, he said he was a professional motor bone rider, he was a motorbike postie!! 😊
@Stephen78857051 I’m sure you’re right but I’m also pretty sure if it didn’t go his way ’Langy’ would have been the first one to speak to the referee. Always good for a but of drama 😂
@Stephen78857051 It really was like nothing else I’d seen, being such a big track the atmosphere was incredible. I was so privileged to be there pretty much every race day in the ‘70’s. I’d say it’s second to Wembley’81 for atmosphere, that was a once in a lifetime for any speedway fan.
@Stephen78857051 He certainly added something to the meeting, you always knew ‘Langy’ wouldn’t let anything anything slide, he was straight over to the ref. A true character if not slightly a pest at times, with all respect.
@Stephen78857051 Brian is such a great person, he is brother of David (Crawley ‘81), father of Adam & grandfather of @MaxStauffer27, ASBK rider. Still see Brian around motorcycle racing.
