Just a reminder, the Academy still has Trader Horn on the books as an Oscar nominee. That movie was made with slave labor and two people died making it.
"Smith Faces Possible Suspension/Expulsion from Academy After Slapping Chris Rock."
Wait. Is the Academy eager to tear down a successful black actor?🤔
(Yes.)
Rock was insulting. Smith slapped him. Smith apologized. That's it.

(J) Classy apology. His reaction was understandable. The joke was cheap, genuinely hurtful, and made in front of millions. I hope Smith was simply moved rather than compelled to make this response. In my view, it would have been acceptable to make no statement at all.
Will Smith has released a statement after last night's incident at the #Oscars: "Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable." https://t.co/WrMBlyKFK0
@pontifactspod@TotalusRankium Photoshop. The real Rocky does not alloy themselves to be casually photographed nor do they smile. Rocky demands to be taken seriously. Rocky does have googly eyes tho. The alleged paparazzo got that right.
The Slap. Violence is never a solution, but, at the same time, don't make cheap jokes and seriously insult someone in front of millions of people. Or you might get slapped.
@TotalusRankium In cold perfectly empirical Come Back a Star categories (Acting, Writing, and Cinematography) Attack of the Clones is the worst.
The best one is the Rogue One… despite the unsettling CGI.
I’m going to come out and say it.
I was one of these women. My incident happened in 2013 at BlizzCon. I didn’t say anything officially until I decided to leave the company last year, because of the name recognition and fear of retaliation.

@TotalusRankium Yikes! I feel you there. It was a record (like all recorded temperatures ever) 43C over here in Washington state a few weeks ago. Stay hydrated. Stay cool. (Easy for the two of you!)
It took 37 years after the end of the Hays Code for 2005’s Brokeback Mountain to be nominated for a Best Picture award. While this was a milestone, it still reflected a safe bet following the trends of public opinion. (6/
Just after the official end of the Hays Code in 1968, The Boys in the Band (1970) presented a film that acknowledged same-sex relationships, but as somewhat scandalous & in stereotypically dramatic terms. Again, this was the mainstream cis white het attitude of the time. (5/
Between 1934 and 1968 any such happy portrayals were banned. Even as the code was weakening, the 1961’s The Children’s Hour still portrayed a pitiable one-sided same-sex love. This reflected the patronizing mainstream attitudes at the time. (4/
