My mom took me to a funcoland to get the Batman Forever game on Super Nintendo. I remember thinking she was so cool for knowing about a store like that. I’d never seen anything like it.
Funco Land was acquired by Barnes & Noble in June 2000, and was merged with Babbage's to form GameStop in December 2000.
Not long after that Funco Land stores were slowly phased out to all become called GameStop and the idea and magic behind the store dedicated to selling and trading of Retro and Used games was gone.
Is there was ever a time for GameStop to relaunch that brand it would be now. Retro Physical Gaming collecting is at an all time high. Prices are through the roof and people are getting top dollar for items.
@gamestop Bring Back Funco Land!

This is wildly misleading. The regulated cannabis market won’t even let a minor through the front door. IDs are checked multiple times, every sale is tracked, and dispensaries are more heavily regulated than bars and liquor stores.
If teens are accessing “weed” more easily, look at the synthetic hemp products being sold at gas stations with zero age verification thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill. That’s not the regulated cannabis industry. That’s the unregulated market the government created by refusing to regulate hemp properly.
Don’t blame the regulated legal cannabis for a problem caused by the lack of regulation everywhere else.
