Aethernet Explorer
I built Aethernet Explorer because I wanted a browser that felt like it actually belonged inside FFXIV, not a regular desktop window pasted over the game.
It has normal tabs and navigation, but it also has a few FFXIV-inspired ideas of its own. You can save sites as Favored Destinations, keep groups of tabs in Workspaces, and detach a page into an independent transparent Shard. It can open ordinary links from game chat in AE, and it adds optional item-menu shortcuts for sites such as Universalis, Teamcraft, Garland Tools, and Gamer Escape.
Twitch and video on many social sites are supported through AE's custom Chromium runtime. Widevine-protected services such as Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video do not work. Spotify is also still inconsistent. Those are known limitations rather than ordinary browser bugs.
This is a public alpha, so I am still looking for real-world feedback. If something breaks, the Settings window can copy a diagnostics summary and open the issue page. Nothing is sent automatically, and AE does not include analytics or an installation counter.
I also want to be direct about how it was made. This was my first plugin, and I used AI tools as development assistants while I learned and built it. I chose the features and design, tested the work in game, coordinated tester feedback, made the release decisions, and continue to maintain it. The complete source, architecture notes, privacy explanation, build instructions, and release history are public for anyone who wants to inspect them.

Aethernet Explorer is free software released under GPL-3.0-only. It is a community project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Square Enix.
@nepheliaxiv I had an idea that I thought people would enjoy. I've never created a plugin before, so I figured, "Why not?" Yes, I used AI assistance to write the code(this is stated on the GitHub Readme), but it wasn't made over night. I put the time in to make sure it works.
