Cardano is now officially part of the x402 codebase

The Cardano implementation, contributed by Cardano Foundation engineers, was merged into the x402 Foundation repository this week: client, server, facilitator and working examples, supported across mainnet, preprod and preview.

x402 is the open payments protocol originally created by Coinbase and now stewarded by the Linux Foundation. It lets applications and AI agents pay each other over standard HTTP requests, with no card and no account.

Until now, x402 on Cardano lived in third-party implementations such as @MasumiNetwork. Native support in the reference codebase means any developer building for the agentic economy can settle payments on #Cardano out of the box, using the same tooling as every other supported chain.

As part of its Blockchains track, we’ll engage with Mastercard and other participants working across payments and stablecoins on areas including cross-border money movement, B2B transactions and settlement.

Cardano has never had a shortage of talented builders. What it's lacked is a bridge from that talent to Silicon Valley networks, mentorship, and capital.

That's the gap the Genesis program is built to close, and this week, we watched the first cohort pitch on stage after four weeks of building, testing, and rewriting their ideas. Thirteen teams, spanning AI, payments, DeFi, infrastructure, and consumer, some brand new to Cardano and some who've been building here for years.

Great judging panel including @TimDraper, @Andytang, @samizb, Aleeha Banerjee from our investment team, and Stephen Wood from @Cardano_CF. It was amazing to see Orion Fund come to life in person alongside the builders. Every part of Orion came together: @Cometa_Labs providing technical mentorship and growth support, our very own @DraperDragon investment team mentoring and advising founders, and @draper_u making it all possible.

Best of all, this is only the beginning. Our investment and growth teams will continue working with these founders well beyond Demo Day, with many more cohorts to come across all stages this year and next. Thank you to everyone who made it happen!

😬 Day 11 was the day everyone at @draper_u had been stressing about.

Pitching our startups in front of @TimDraper.

The tension beforehand was crazy, but everyone in the Genesis cohort absolutely delivered. All that preparation paid off.

Now the pitches go live Friday.

For the Cardano community, I think this is important viewing. Treasury funding helped make this program happen, so this is where you get to see what we're building and what came from that investment.

Now… back to building. Cardano will win $ADA
