@TeamKFBfan8 They’re hiding a lot. Zero chance anyone outside them can say they’ve shown a lot without knowing what they plan to do. Thats not the question. The question is what will it look like and how effective will it be when unveiled.
No waiver claims you say … theres an incredibly high level of faith for Nick Allegretti to a) be healthy and b) play well - they told us that’s how they felt with no moves in FA and are doubling down on it now. Sure feels like a classic hoping for the best and not planning for the worst situation
As a reminder, the Commanders technically haven't announced their initial roster yet, and there will be changes coming. Tunsil and Newton aren't on IR yet (as they are likely to be) and there are currently on 3 CBs on the active. So, sit tight over the next day or so
A big key for Luke McCaffrey: averaged 29.6 yards per KR last season. His 7 returns of 35-plus yards were tied for most in the NFL in only 9 games. Had a solid summer in practice but the ST work is important. Also covers kicks
If the Commanders are going to add at center (obviously we all agree they should) identify your guy and go get him, waiting for cuts to hold on to a late round pick is egregiously passive in my mind
Here’s the list of center options I’ve been keeping an eye on recently. Add Sedrick Van Pran Granger to the list. #Commanders might have to make a trade for one of these guys. We’ve seen A LOT of trade for O-Linemen recently. #RaiseHail
One name I REALLY think the Commanders need to be watching over the next 24-48 hours:
Texans C Jake Andrews.
Andrews is only 26 and started all 16 games for Houston last season.
1,093 snaps
67.2 pass-blocking grade
14 pressures allowed
Just ONE sack allowed
Is he an elite Center? No. But that’s not what Washington needs right now.
They need someone with actual starting experience who can come in and give them some insurance behind Nick Allegretti. Especially with Allegretti barely practicing this summer and the depth behind him being extremely thin.
Here’s where it gets interesting…
Houston looks like they might CUT Andrews. Evan Brown has taken over at Center and they have Keylan Rutledge who can play there too. Andrews only played 5 snaps in their preseason finale.
So AP could either wait and see if he gets released OR call Houston now and offer something small to make sure nobody else gets him.
A 26-year-old Center who started an entire season and allowed ONE sack?
