Denmark, France, Austria, Belgium and Finland all have tax-to-GDP ratios above 42%.
These are developed nations that made tough choices to finance development and build strong institutions.
If we could import a presidential candidate from these countries to Kenya, they would tell us the uncomfortable truth: you CANNOT build a FIRST WORLD economy without making difficult fiscal choices.
They'll ruled Taxes be raised for Kenya to Grow.
President Ruto is aiming higher trying to move Kenya toward the First World while pursuing development without massive tax increases.
You may disagree with his methods, but the ambition is undeniable.
In pictures; This is Ndindi Nyoro’s first People’s Tour in Murang’a has received an overwhelming and enthusiastic welcome from the people.
During the inaugural tour, Nyoro pledged that Free Basic Education must be fully actualised by January 2028.
He also emphasised that better, accessible healthcare must remain at the heart of our national agenda, while right and practical policies for job creation must be prioritised to unlock opportunities for young people and all Kenyans.
President Ruto hosts Catholic Archbishops Philip Anyolo of Nairobi, Maurice Muhatia of Kisumu, Anthony Muheria of Nyeri and Dominic Kimengich of Mombasa, who paid a courtesy visit on the President at State House, Nairobi.

For those who have been asking about President William Ruto’s father, here he is.
Mzee Daniel Kipruto Samoei Cheruiyot, the father of President William Samoei Ruto, lived a relatively quiet and humble life away from the political spotlight.
He was a peasant farmer and businessman in Uasin Gishu, raising his family in Kamagut long before his son rose to the highest office in the land.
Mzee Daniel passed away peacefully on March 29, 2008 and was laid to rest at his home in Kamagut in April 2008.
A man who lived a simple life, yet whose son would go on to become the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya.
May He continue Resting in eternal peace.
Reports indicate that Some of the Cabinet Secretaries in Ruto's cabinet are likely to dump Ruto for DCP before 2027.
CSs like Kabogo, Kinyanjui and Mutahi Kagwe are set to secure elective seats under DCP in 2027.
As a result, Analysts have urged the President to impeach them before they do him.
Ironically, KIKUYUS are not thankful enough to the Kenya Kwanza government despite have the highest number of cabinet.
This is the highest number they'll ever get.
MEET NDINDI NYORO & KEN MATIBA: TWO ERAS, ONE POLITICAL QUESTION BUT VERY DIFFERENT STORIES
Is there a political parallel between Ndindi Nyoro and the late Kenneth Matiba? The answer is both YES and NO.
On the surface, the similarities are striking.
Both have represented Kiharu Constituency in Parliament. Both rose through the political establishment and, at different points, became increasingly difficult to fit neatly into the system that had helped propel their careers.
KEN MATIBA was once a committed KANU establishment figure. But when the political system turned against him during the 1988 Mlolongo elections, his relationship with the establishment changed dramatically.
Long before multiparty politics returned, Matiba and Charles Rubia were among the key figures behind the 1970s constitutional agitation aimed at preventing then-Vice President Daniel arap Moi from automatically succeeding Jomo Kenyatta.
That effort was ultimately crushed, with the powerful establishment figure Charles Njonjo playing a central role in blocking the proposed constitutional change.
Matiba would later become one of the defining faces of Kenya's struggle for political pluralism.
NDINDI NYORO'S JOURNEY IS DIFFERENT.
Nyoro served both the Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto administrations, rising to become one of the most influential young politicians in the country. His eventual fallout with the establishment and his decision to launch a presidential bid under the People's Party of Kenya have now placed him in a completely different political lane.
Both men have also experienced confrontation with the state, although the circumstances and severity were vastly different. Matiba's detention had devastating consequences for his health and businesses. Nyoro's confrontation with police in 2019, following political tensions surrounding a church service in Murang'a, was comparatively minor.
But here lies the BIG POLITICAL DIFFERENCE.
Matiba's break with the system ultimately placed him at the heart of the struggle for multiparty democracy.
Nyoro's current political positioning has generated questions about who benefits from his political strategy, whose vote he is targeting, and what his emergence means for the opposition ecosystem.
His public positions have also attracted scrutiny. During the Finance Bill debates, for example, he publicly expressed opposition to some proposals but abstained from voting in the last three Finance Bill debates, a contradiction that has inevitably invited political interpretation.
Then comes the bigger question:
IS NDINDI NYORO A GENUINE THIRD FORCE, OR COULD HIS POLITICAL PROJECT END UP FRAGMENTING THE ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT VOTE?
That question is especially important given the emerging political contest involving DCP and Rigathi Gachagua.
History gives us another interesting lesson.
In 1992, Matiba and Mwai Kibaki both crossed the one-million-vote mark. Moi won with about 1.9 million votes. A united opposition vote could potentially have produced a completely different outcome.
This is why the politics of vote splitting remains one of Kenya's most powerful electoral weapons.
And this is where the Matiba–Nyoro comparison becomes complicated.
Matiba was a system man who eventually broke with the system when the system broke with him.
Nyoro, critics argue, is a former establishment insider attempting to reinvent himself politically while questions remain about whether his new project represents genuine independence or a strategic intervention in the opposition space.
There is, however, one thing history teaches us:
In Kenyan politics, personalities change, alliances shift and political vehicles come and go but the battle for the Mt. Kenya vote and the mathematics of coalition politics remain decisive.
So, is Nyoro the new Matiba?
Not yet.
Nyoro's political chapter is still being written.
Kenyans are incredibly creative, humorous and highly informed.
They are quick to catch trends, turn current events into comedy and find opportunities in almost every situation.
No wonder Kenya has consistently stood out for its high social media engagement and digital creativity.
When it comes to social media, Kenyans are simply in a league of their own!😂
THE SECRET BEHIND THE PRESIDENT’S MOTORCADE
President William Ruto’s presidential motorcade has evolved from the Lexus LX 570 to presidential Land Cruisers and the Mercedes-Benz used for special occasions.
But what do the different vehicles actually do?
1. ROUTE/PILOT CAR — Travels ahead to assess the route and relay conditions to the convoy.
2. SWEEPERS — Police motorcycles and vehicles help clear the route and maintain a smooth convoy.
3. LEAD CAR — Coordinates the escort formation and security operation.
4. PRESIDENTIAL VEHICLE — Carries the President and is specially protected.
5. BACK-UP VEHICLES — Carry additional security officers ready to respond to emergencies.
6. ELECTRONIC COUNTERMEASURES — Specialized vehicles support protection against certain electronic threats.
7. CONTROL & SUPPORT VEHICLES — Carry officials, security personnel, communications and other essential support.
The exact number and formation vary depending on the President’s itinerary and security assessment.
Next time you see Ruto’s motorcade, you’ll know there’s much more happening than meets the eye.
