Many of them are involved in public service of some kind, and even if not I think it is acceptable to pick option three in “lead, follow, or get out of the way.” The self-serving option is to be obstructing other people.

My problem with monks is that it is really easy to say that you have achieved ultimate peace when you are isolated from the world. And isn't it ultimately only self serving? It is only for your own personal benefit that you live off charity and seclude from the world.

it's a bit strange how job interviews are social rituals where both people are lying to each other and they both know the other is lying but if the interviewee ever makes the mistake of being honest they instantly lose. why is that how it works why is lying expected
