Our youngest book club follower Baby S made her @parkrunUK debut in Edinburgh today!
A great morning for parkrun in Edinburgh today and friendly, enthusiastic volunteers as ever! @edinbrghparkrun
It’s only Thursday but we’re ALREADY looking forward to Saturday @parkrunUK
If you ❤️ parkrun too then you’ll enjoy our book of the month as much as we are - it traces the movement’s history from Bushy Park in 2004 to surpassing 50 million runs completed by end of June 2019 🙌
It’s a new month, and a new title for our book club!
With thousands of us enjoying the benefits of @parkrun once again, there was only ever going to be one choice - How parkrun Changed Our Lives by @CumbriaPR !
We’ve had a flick through and we just know we’re gonna love it!
We’ve really enjoyed our book of the month Coasting by @elisecdowning - it’s a fun read with a lot of depth, not shying away from either the highs or lows of a big adventure.
Keep an eye here for info on our Coasting pod episode & let us know your thoughts on it in the meantime!
"People picture the coast and imagine long, flat proms. As I had discovered, it wasn't really like that."
@elisecdowning reminds us that the British coastline is rugged, hilly, muddy, sandy and all kinds of tough. It isn't all sunny strolls along a flat prom!
In It For The Long Run is ultrarunner Damian Hall’s story of his incredible midlife transformation into a professional sportsperson.
We chat what it takes to go the long haul, and why ultramarathons are typically Type 2 fun affairs in our thoroughly Type 1 fun chat with Damian!
Sometimes, life gets in the way of editing a podcast…but we’re delighted to (belatedly) sound the New Episode klaxon! 📣🚨😀
Our interview with the delightful @Ultra_Damo - author of In It For The Long Run - is available now in all the usual places!
Already loving this months book and @elisecdowning's close attention to good meals throughout the trip. You'll be surprised to know that every dinner wasn't fish and chips, despite being by the British coastline for almost the entire adventure 😂 #racefuel
📣AUGUST BOOK OF THE MONTH 📣
We're on to our next book, this month we'll be reading Coasting by @elisecdowning. She writes about her incredible 5000 mile journey around the coast of Britain - all completely self-supported. This lady ROCKS and we can't wait to get stuck in!
It's been a great month reading 'In It For The Long Run', exploring all things ultra and many an FKT attempt! We do have a podcast episode coming, just slightly delayed sorry folks! We'll shout when it is ready.
Our August book will be announced tomorrow! Keep your eyes peeled 👀
"Comparing a 260-mile race with a fifty mile race is like comparing being run over by a ten-tonne truck at two miles per hour to being attacked by a madman with a chainsaw. They both hurt a lot. But in very different ways" @Ultra_Damo
Ouch, ouch and more ouch in this months book!
📣 NEW BOOK ALERT! 📣
It's that time again, dear followers! This month we'll be reading 'In It For The Long Run' by ultrarunner @Ultra_Damo, which describes his journey to extraordinary running achievements.
Read it? Planning to read along with us? Let us know your thoughts
We'll be moving to our next book of the month tomorrow 🥳 Whilst you're waiting on that announcement, our latest podcast episode with author of The Runner, @MTorgeby is available on all the usual podcast platforms. Check it out! https://t.co/9tFBzMmQsC
In our latest podcast you can learn all about zen and the art of running with Markus Torgeby, author of The Runner…
…while hosts Katharine and Niall set out July’s monthly running task, inspired by @RunSomeHQ, to replace a car journey errand with a run errand instead 🚘 ⛔️🏃✅
🚨New episode alert!🚨
Our podcast on The Runner featuring @MTorgeby is out now!
Markus tells us why he spent four years alone in a remote Swedish forest - and what he learned about running, and about life, in the process.
Seeking focus and mindfulness? Then give it a listen!
