Yesterday, FWCC Management met with a New Zealand High Commission team, led by First Secretary Jane Anderson, to talk about its work. The group included staff from MFAT, NZ Ministry for Women, and Development Programmes, showing shared support for GBV.
FWCC in partnership with Family Support Centre, is facilitating a 4‑day GBV sensitisation workshop in Honiara for provincial Premiers, officials, media & govt reps to strengthen provincial action on gender-sensitive policies.
Day 1 | Mon 4 May 2026: FWCC began a 3‑day awareness programme on Gender, Domestic Violence & Sexual Harassment at RCL Services. Facilitated by Miliana Tarai & Akisi Rokara with 19 RCL team leaders. Vinaka RCL for promoting safe, respectful workplaces.

FWCC’s Miliana Tarai and Elina Cagilaba facilitated a 3‑day Gender‑Based Violence Workshop at GPH for 26 PALM Scheme Welfare Officers from the Ministry of Employment, Productivity & Industrial Relations, strengthening capacity in GBV prevention and response.
On Wednesday April 29, Counsellor Advocates Lavenia Tuitabu & Kata Vatutalei led an awareness session for 20 participants at Vatukorosia-Naitasiri. Discussions were on gender, DV, Child Abuse & TFVAWG. The session was an eye‑opener, with strong interest in a 5‑day gender training
Around 20 women attended a GBV awareness session in Nasali Village, Rewa earlier this week, following a request after last month’s Turaga ni Koro GBV training in Nausori. Participants shared that they now better understand how to respond and support other women in their community
ODPP Statistics (March 2026):
10 indictments filed in the High Court with 18 sexual offence charges — 11 rape, 1 attempted rape, 2 defilement, 4 sexual assault.
Three cases involved victims and accused who were related.
