The Coalburn–Poneil stretch of the Active Travel Path to Douglas is nearly finished and looks brilliant. Cobbles and tar help cattle reach water and if you’ve ever puffed your way up the steep climb near Wallace’s Cave, you’ll be glad to see the zig-zag stretch easing the way🚶♀️🐄

Preparatory work is now underway on the final stretch of the path from Poneil to Douglas
Access to the Long Plantation (Douglas) is temporarily restricted while tree clearance is carried out

There will be a walk and talk on the new path out to Coalburn Moss, which is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) an area of land and water deemed to be of special interest due to it's flora, fauna, geological or geomorphological features.

An update on the new Active Travel Path being constructed from Coalburn to Douglas.
The weather has allowed good progress to be made on the new section of path which is making its way over to Wallace's Cave, from Poneil.
It's going to be a fantastic route when complete!
