"After nearly 15 years working in community development in the renewables sector, I can say with confidence: when projects are developed well, and local people are brought along, the benefits can be extraordinary" - Dr @JarraHicks

Cambodia is rapidly #electrifying⚡️ However, 245 villages still lack electricity access + more live with energy insecurity. Small, community-owned renewables offer a faster, cheaper & more just solution. Read more about our project with @oxfam & AMPRES. https://t.co/PQ4EkJpKwc
For this week’s local solar story, we spoke with Leichhardt Women’s Community Health Centre about how installing solar, alongside a heat pump and battery, is not only saving the centre money, but also helping the environment.
Win, win!
Our project with Mansfield Autism Statewide Services has been installed! Thanks to your help, they now have a 99.56kW #solar system on their new multi-use activity centre, and once their loan is paid off, it will save $23,249 per year which can go towards serving their community!
Our campaign for Local Energy Hubs has been heating up. What would they look like? @EnergyGeni is a great template. Listen to Managing Director, Sally Hunter, on how Hubs could help to demystify renewables + the importance of involving community ⚡️

So exciting to see this project up and running! This co-development model, between Renewable Newstead & @FlowPower_au, is a great blueprint for how communities can be powered by renewables in their own backyard ⚡️ #communityenergy#doingrenewablesbetter

@imdavidbryan We agree that there’s some challenges - but we’ve been working hard with other groups to find ways to achieve a net gain in biodiversity on solar farms. Our Guide sets out how this can be achieved - you can read a summary here ⬇️ https://t.co/0GdSwmKNCt
Shade in summer, shelter from the rain & green growth from the moisture running off the panels - the surprising co-benefits of integrating solar farms and livestock 🌱🐑☀️

Join consultant ecologist David Carr, and discover how farmers can embrace renewables and turn their agricultural land into sustainable sanctuaries.
An important move to protect the people, places, and wildlife we love from climate change.

"Farmers are time poor. If we had somebody in my town that I could go to who was knowledgeable within the energy space, it would've cut the length of time we had to spend on researching" Singleton farmer Sophie Nichols on the need for Local Energy Hubs ⚡️
https://t.co/HHkfdEwOsg
"Big renewables mean big changes for communities. Local Energy Hubs can ensure regions are placed at the centre of this change & have all the tools they need to direct opportunities to meet local needs & aspirations."
🎯✍️ Our Director Jarra Hicks & Andrew Bray, @reallianceaus
These hubs would help communities to understand and participate in the shift to #renewables, from the small stuff to the big stuff, and serve as crucial touchpoints for developers https://t.co/2MeIVf2m22
Chepstowe farmer Neville Oddie has restored brolga habitat – right next to wind turbines. An excellent example of how biodiversity doesn't need to come off second best to renewable energy⚡️🌱
