Today’s signing of the Medical Aid in Dying Act is a historic step for compassion, dignity, and personal autonomy in New York.
Deeply grateful to Gov. Hochul, Senate Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Sen. Gustavo Rivera, Asm. Amy Paulin, advocates, and the patients and families who courageously shared their stories to make this possible.
Extending our gratitude today to the members of the @NYSenate who voted yet again to pass NY’s #MedicalAidinDying Act, with new amendments.
@GovKathyHochul is expected to quickly sign the bill into law, paving the way for NYers to access this compassionate end-of-life choice.

When she announced her intention to sign New York’s #MedicalAidinDying Act into law @GovKathyHochul spoke movingly about her experience of caring for a terminally ill loved one. “I realized it’s not about me, it’s about 20 million New Yorkers,” she said.
