It's Education Week! Join us in applauding the incredible work of designated early childhood educators (DECEs).
For over 15 years, ETFO early childhood educators have transformed early learning in Ontario, and they continue to play a vital role in the public education system. In early learning, DECEs bring expertise and care to create inclusive, play-based classrooms that nurture every aspect of a child’s development. #EducationWeek #onted
“The CopyCat Fish”. Before reading the book, we discussed what it means to be a “copycat “. During reading we made predictions and connections to the story. K2 students made their own version of the “The Copy Cat Fish” which we then turned into a beautiful under the sea scenery.
There are many messages about “the importance of the early years”—the idea that brain trajectories are set by age six—dramatically increase some parents’ stress. But the truth is, it is never too late to start doing #SelfReg with your child—or yourself.
Tomorrow is #OrangeShirtDay. Let's wear our orange shirts to honour the strength and resilience of the survivors, those who have perished and reaffirm our commitment, in the spirit of reconciliation, to ensure #EveryChildMatters.

The problem with Self-Controllism is that when we don’t understand the causes of behaviour, we stop asking questions way too soon and persuade ourselves that we have in fact explained the behaviour. #SelfReg#Parenting#Educators
#SelfReg teaches us to recognize when a child’s problem isn’t that they aren't working hard enough but rather, they are working too hard. Rather than pushing them to override their #limbic brakes, we aim to reduce the stress-load that is holding them back. #SeeAChildDifferently
A calm and alert child will be fascinated by the most extraordinary things: an ant, a dust mote, the sound of birds, the smell of vanilla and it's a wonderful sight to behold.
