[CMDA Chennai @CMDA_Official]

The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) is revitalising 12 of Chennai’s lakes. The goal of this project is to emphasise ecological sensitivity, preserve the pristine nature of the water bodies, and create vibrant public spaces that integrate the unique characteristics of the local communities while respecting the natural contours of the lakes and their surroundings.
Each lake has a distinct theme, such as the biodiversity habitat at Perumbakkam Lake, the natural trails at Puzhal Lake etc., which has been arrived at based on the uniqueness of each lake & the challenges addressed. Planned improvements include improved water quality, capacity augmentation, enhanced recreational facilities, landscaped parks etc. The focus is on desilting the lakes, enabling them to act as sponges to absorb excess rainwater, while also preventing the inflow of sewage to enhance biodiversity.

This initiative demonstrates a commitment to urban development coupled with environmental sustainability. We look forward to this project's positive impact on our city. #CMDA #lakefront #lakes #development #sustainability

As part of the 3 day 'Decoding Intersections' Workshop for RV College of Architecture, B.PAC was invited to present at the 'Learning from Practitioners' webinar today (2nd May 2024). Ms. Priyanka Krishnan @priyanka_krishnan, Research & Program Associate -B.MOBILE gave a guest lecture titled 'The Crossroad Dilemma', sharing learnings related to junctions and road safety on Inner Ring Road:
-Walkability audit observations.
-Traffic Signal audit inferences.
-Importance of makeshift safe pedestrian access during road construction.
-Domlur flyover junction - the impact of pedestrians never being a part of the design and possible solutions.
The workshop is initiated by @Compartment_S4 & Thirty Cross, supported by Sustainable Mobility Network, with knowledge partners @WRIIndia & @Raahgiri_Fdn.
The webinar was attended by 20 Masters of Urban Design students of RVCA and their faculty. 

The aim of the workshop is to open up professional on-ground work to students and involve the young talent in the process of delivering live projects in the city.

The project is located in Surendranagar district of Saurashtra region of Gujarat. It is an attempt to create custom-designed cattle shelters sensitive to the cattle, their needs, and habitation conditions.
