On World Pancreatic Cancer Day, we're highlighting advances that address the spatial complexity and immune resistance that make pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) one of the deadliest cancers.
In a recent article published in Cancer Letters, Chiara Musiu and colleagues used Stereo-seq to map therapy-induced remodeling of PDAC tumors at single-cell resolution. The study shows a coordinated shift in tumor composition after local ablation plus immunotherapy (Combo), including reduced inhibitory pathways, reorganization of neoplastic cell states, and a striking expansion of pro-immune domains enriched for activated T-cell populations.
Stereo-seq captured full-transcriptome spatial changes across entire pancreatic tumor sections, uncovering treatment-responsive immune activation domains that standard bulk or dissociated assays would not detect.
